Forums - Nintendo - Wii U North American Ad - BK

Seems that Nintendo has started their ad campaign in America with the product placement of Mario in BK toys for the Wii U. See commercial:

I thought they were going after the hardcore audience with the Wii U, I guess that was just a dream

Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.

Nintendo have to target both markets, this obviously won't be the only ad. There will probably be more "hardcore" ads later on.

Nintendo and PC gamer

I believe they said they will be focusing more on the Hardcore audience, not completely.

...and that is their mistake. That's not how you gain the acceptance of the hardcore.

Exactly. You arent going to win a 20-40 year gamer over by showing them kids singing (humming?) the iconic music of Mario. You should show them kids killing each other or zombies feasting on kids or some other such.

Can't decide if this is bad for Nintendo, or good for Burger King.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Sloppy effort Nintendo/Burger King, two whites, a black and a hispanic: all children... WHAT IS THIS 2012 OR 1950-12!? The elderly, homosexuals and Amish are not represented in this commerical. Not to mention that this commercial severely disenfranchises convicted felons. Imagine someone leaving a jail after having been in there since the Golden age of Nintendo, since they were arrested as a child, they can' wait to go straight and play some Nintendo games. But wait! They see this commercial and are filled by the dead eyed blandness of these corporate cookie-cutter children, they realize that the world has passed them by and Nintendo games aren' for them. They might buy decide to poop their pants at every opportunity, or worse buy and Xbox. Also humming is mad ghey.

The self-proclaimed ones, at least.

This is a Burger King commercial, not a Wii U commercial... the ad is not trying to convince people to buy a Wii U, it's using Nintendo's popularity to convince people to buy Burger King for a chance to win a Wii U. Pretty significant difference. Most significant being that it's very unlikely that Nintendo actually made this commercial -- more likely they gave BK the rights to use their trademarks for the ad, and BK actually made it.
