After watching Nintendo Direct on my 3DS last night and seeing some of the upcoming games, I'm having a hard time seeing the difference between 3DS and DS, too.

Sarcasm?  or are you referring to something else?  Because there's a clear difference in capabilities.  I've gotten myself some DS games and they look wayyyy different.

A little.  I have some games that clearly aren't possible on the original DS.  But you have some games like RE:R that look amazing and didn't sell very well.  It may just be a little discouraging for devs to try and push the hardware (which is definitely powerful).  I don't think many of them are even bothering.

I watched the Nintendo Direct video in hopes of finding something to be excited about.  They showed some awesome stuff like Paper Mario but they also showed a lot of stuff that will definitely be fun but don't push the console (Like Angry Birds and the 2D Mickey Mouse).  I'll be buying the Mickey Mouse game almost definitely since Magical Quest was one of my favorite SNES games but it doesn't look amazing.

And aren't you on my 3DS friends list?  You KNOW I play the fuck out of my 3DS!!

I don't think I've added anyone here yet on my friends list on the 3DS.  I definitely agree that the Mickey Mouse game looks graphically similar to a DS game, though.  It seems to me that it may have originally been planned for DS as it doesn't do anything that a DS couldn't do anyway.  I also play my 3DS a lot, with over a hundred hours put into Kid Icarus and over 90 hours put into Ocarina of Time 3D, nearly 70 hours in Theatrhythm, etc.

I could have sworn.  I even see your Mii in my head as I type this post (spikey hair and a big ass smile).  I'm going to have to fire up my 3DS right now.

the 3DS underperformed severely for like 5 months, and it was being sold at a loss, just because now its doing great doesnt mean is going to turn into a monstruous succes like the DS
i will do great and make billions for Nintendo, but it will never ever match the DS in the long run

Agreed.  Me and a guy (Shokio himself, actually) got into a huge debate because I told him that the DS didn't do very well during its first year and that when the DS Lite came out, the sales exploded.  So, while the 3DS was beating the DS's first year, it wouldn't be long until it fell below DS sales.  We argued back and forth for a while until I agreed to disagree--and asked him to wait until Christmas.

Sorry... but they "are" morons..

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I do have an opinion on this, actually.  I say it's too early to say it cannot beat the DS, and I have been wondering what the sales records were for the DS over the years, when was its peak years/months?  I also argue to those people who say the 3DS isn't doing well that I think even if it doesn't start selling faster, if it keeps up this rate for a while it is doing better than a lot of other consoles do.  It's really hard to say, though.  I have high hopes for the 3DS due to the fact that there's a Luigi's Mansion game coming to the system (which is actually racking up a lot of pre-orders), a Super Smash Bros game, it hasn't seen its own traditional pokemon game yet, Contra 3D may contribute to sales as well as the Persona game that was announced to come to the 3DS at e3 2010, the slew of great looking games in Japan, and the localization of some of those games here in the USA.  However, things don't always go according to plan, so it'll be hard to tell.  A lot of people get these estimates wrong anyway.  People were wrong about the Wii, and people were wrong about the DS.  People most likely didn't expect the Gamecube to (relatively) flop.

Regardless of all this, I still think the 3DS may be able to push just as well as the DS if the cards get played correctly.

How exactly has the 3DS not been a success?  The DS released in the US in November 2004 and in Japan in December 2004.  After 18 months, it shipped 21.27mil units worldwide with over 20mil sold.  The 3DS released in Japan in February 2011 and in the US in March 2011.  After 18 months, the 3DS shipped 21mil with more than 20mil sold worldwide.  So the DS was a success, but the 3DS is a failure?

All successful products drop price heavily soon after launch then give away free games to say sorry to people.

You mean like the PS3?

$100 price cut 7 months after launch plus multiple free game offers.

Was that code always there?  If so, I think A LOT of criminals may have gotten away with their crimes when I was a cop.  Anyway, you're added.  You're #94 on my 3DS friends list.  Hope to play with ya sometime!

I've been saying again and again, Nintendo kept copying Sony. And we always have some Nintendo fanboys in denial.

Why bring PS3 into this?  Trying to play fanboy?  It has nothing to do with the topic and sounds like trying to start a console war.

...but since you did, lets rip that weak argument apart.  You know the difference between a 16% price drop (PS3) and a near 50% price drop (3DS) I assume, the 3DS dropped in almost half the time, Nintendo offered 20 games as compensation to early buyers, and no Sony did not give free games away to people who already bought a PS3 as a way of saying sorry.

Damn, Jill.  What did Wesker do to you?

But yeah.  You're right.  The best deal (at the time) I could find on a PS3 after the "abysmal" 2006 launch was a $500 80GB PS3 w/ Metal Gear Solid 3.  Not even close to being the same situation.
