Forums - General - I have 100% SOLVED the Abortion Issue. For all time. Enter and feel enlightened.

On a moral standpoint, humans will never all agree on the same point. Even if we try to use science to back out claims, people will always debate on whether it's okay to have an abortion, whether the fetus is a human, etc.

But there is one way to solve it. One clean way. One way that has absolutely zero drawbacks.

Sterilizing every male newborn.

In the near future (50-100 years) I have no doubt a very simplistic and cost efficient way will be developed to sterilize a man. This would be performed on all male babies and would prevent any and all unwanted pregnancies. Then, when the man is grown up and is married or has agreed to commit to an 18+ year relationship, they are surgically given their procreation ability back.

Who would complain? Men? Upset they can't accidentally impregnant a woman? NOPE. This is practically every man's dream! Being able to sleep with whoever they want with zero consequence (aside from aids and stds). Women? Upset they can't accidentally be impregnated by a man? NOPE. If anything, this takes a big burden off of them!

On top of this, no woman would need to be on birth control. Abortion costs, babies in daycare costs, and pregnancy prevention pill costs would cease to exist. The only cost that would remain is the cost of giving sterilizing surgeries and undoing them when appropriate.

Now once a man becomes unsterile (after he agrees to raise children), there is the risk that he will accidentally get another girl pregnant. Here's how you solve the problem: make men agree on how many babies they want before they become unsterile again, and perform the surgery to take away their procreative abilities after they've had the children. But what if he gets another girl pregnant during this time anyways? Well, make him provide for the child unconditionally.

Of course, I know people will come up with certain scenarios where this doesn't work, so I'll just say this: If you want to find a way around this, then here's my new idea - we 100% sterilize all newborn men for the rest of their lives, and we let all men and women have sex however they want, and when two of them want a baby together, we can use a proceedure to replicate the man's sperm and implant it in the woman. Each baby you have would cost whatever it needed to cost to get this done. If done on a worldwide scale this could be perfected to such a way that it wouldn't really be cost-prohibitive.

I'm making the claim right now, humans will no longer procreate through sex within the next 1000 years.

When you say sterile, do you mean boiling my penis? Because I'm not okay with that.

I'll just use a condom.

Something similar to tying a man's tubes. The kind that's done now. It prevents pregnancy but doesn't stop sperm production (so it's possible to revert).

But you bring up a good point, we should do this case by case. I vote having your penis boiled because I love the way you scream...

I don't think its that easy to just give back a man's ability to have children. I know you can have a vasectomy reversed, but I was under the impression that it was hard/expensive. I'm talking out of my ass here though, someone feel free to support or correct me.

Also, some people consider having to buy a government ID to vote prohibitive, no way would people go for a mandatory "fee" to have a baby. (yes I went there)

I like the world you describe in your second full paragraph though :)

EDIT:  Also I can't tell how serious this thread is.  It seems real, but with a hint of sarcasm?  I don't know.

I'm saying it light hearted, but I am being serious about it all. I know there are difficulties with the current method, but I'm thinking about the near future. =)

It will continue to be an issue for us right now though. That much I know.

But my religion states it is immoral to not make babies. Who gave you the same power as God to decide who lives and who dies? By forcing me to get my balls cut off as a child you are also deciding that the girl I get wasted and pound in twenty years will not get pregnant and produce a baby. You have no right to decide that bastard child can't live!

My view on abortion is why allow it when there is MANY couples who want kids but can't have kids.

If you don't want the kid, give it up at birth to somone who wants it.

Science is a step ahead of you, man.

10 year temporary vasectomy on the way. Google it (I'm at work and everything is tracked, don't want to have to explain this one). It essentially works by injecting a gel in some of the ol' tubes, preventing fertile ejaculation.

After about 10 years, it starts to wear off (I assume at the 7-10 year mark, you'll go for "check ups"). They injection can be renewed, and there's another injection which has a chemical which destroys the gel, if you wish to reverse the procedure early.

If you can face the idea of having a syringe stuck in your manjunk, this will be the obvious choice.
