If the GameCube were as powerful as the Wii is today back in 2001, how much would it have cost at launch? Minus Motion Controls.

I'm writing an alternate history, so this is kind of a key detail.

If you give me some answers and good rationales, I'll share my finished product!

Around the Network

In 2001, Wii's tech didn't exist or was very early in creation.

Thus it would have been a $600 console that sold at a significant loss.

(this is primarily referring to the motion controls....)

ok so now we're not including motion, which is odd as that's the primary upgrade on the console.

Gamecube was $199 at launch.

Wii has an upgarded CPU and GPU on the same architecture as GC... same but more memory and other items.

I'd think the higher end stuff which is more powerful than Xbox would of put it (at a Nintendo profit margin) ~$400+. Keep in mind Xbox launched at $299 and selling at a loss.

some good $350/400 for sure

Is this without motion controls, and pure console power?

Or are you talking about the inclusion of motion controls as well?

(You're going to get very varied responses due to this not being concrete in the OP).
