why even count wii sports. you know 99% of its sales are bundle sales. I bet if it wasn't bundled it would be at about 5 million tops, which is still amazing, but not 28 million or whatever it is now.

Interesting list. Given the split of many big titles across PS3/360 I'd like to see where they sit combined - i.e. to me GTA IV and COD4 don't represent two games, just one on multiple platforms. I think their position should be based on combined sales, as should Assassin's Creed, DMC4, etc.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Actually, Wii Sports probably has a lower bundled rate than Marvel:Ultimate Alliance on X360.
It's not 99% either, as a matter of fact - it's below 90%.
Reasonable, going exact on where on the list the multiplats are, is hard, because you will have to take into account other games increasing. I can say where they are on the singleplat list though, but remember that they're likely to be 5+ places lower if you include all multiplats from previous consoles.
Guitar Hero 3: 12.2M - 21st place
CoD 4: 9.9M: 29th place
GTA IV: 10.2M - 29th place
Assassin's Creed: 6.7M - 56th place
Devil May Cry 4: 2.4M - 311th place

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS
i think we will see mgs4 in the list before the end of the year.mgs4 at 5 millions

Thanks anyway. I'm always amazed at how well AC sold as I felt the end product was really just a tech demo with some basic mechanics on top and a drawn out, one big fight after another, finish.

I posted this here in another thread.
Before Wii/DS the list was as this (top 10 best sellers)
1. SMB (NES) 40.24M
2. Pokemon Red/Blue (GB) Pokemon Red/Blue 33.33M
3. Tetris (GB) 30.26M
4. Duch Hunt (NES) 28.31M
5. Pokemon Gold/Silver (GB) 23.11M
6. SMW (SNES) 20.61M
7. SM land (GB) 18.14M
8. GTA:SA (Ps2) 17.48M
9. SMB3 (NES) 17.28M
10. The Sims (PC) 16.08M
NES - 3 titles
GB - 4 titles
SNES - 1 title
Ps2 - 1 title
PC - 1 title
And by generation
3rd gen - 5 titles
4th gen - 3 titles
5th gen - 1 title
6th gen - 1 title
Looked like fewer and fewer games were able to sell a lot. Now, after this gen, I believe we will see something around this.
How I believe the list will be (reasoning after the list).
1. Wii Sports (Wii) number doesn't matter - it will be 1st.
2. SMB (NES) - 40.24M
3. Wii Play (Wii) 33-40M
4. Wii Fit (Wii) 33-40M
5. Pokemon Red/Blue (GB) 33.33M
6. Nintendogs (DS) 30-33M
7. Tetris (GB)- 30.26M
8. Duck Hunt (NES)- 28.31M
9. Pokemon Gold/Silver (GB)- 23.11M
10. NSMB -(DS) 20-23M
NES - 2 titles
GB - 3 titles
DS - 2 titles
Wii - 3 titles
So by generation.
3rd gen - 4 titles
4th gen - 1 title
5th gen - 0 titles
6th gen - 0 titles
7th gen - 7 titles.
Reasoning.
1. Wii Sports (Guaranteed 50M +)
2 + 3rd + 4th SMB/Wii Play/Wii Fit
Wii Play does now only sell 1/3 of the number of consoles sold on a weekly basis. The Wii would need to sell over 100M to make it beat SMB (no, not 120M, as Wii Play is higher on AR now than 1/3).
Wii Fit is huge, but it is not certain how long it will last. Still, it is likely that both Wii Play and Wii Fit will break 33M.
Nintendogs is possible too, but that depends on how much longer the DS' life is.
5th + 6th + 7th. Nintendogs/Pokemon Blue/Red and Tetris
Nintendogs is still selling 50-100K weekly. It "only" needs 13M more to get to Pokemon. Still, Nintendogs is slowing down, and sold a totally crappy 3M so far this year. This means that is should be selling 4-5M a year. I thus think that it should beat 30M, but 33M might be too much. Of course, Nintendogs could end 7th
8th. Duck Hunt - no question about it. Possibly Wii Fit/Nintendogs could get a sequel or something or stop up completely and sell 28M "only"
9th/10th. Has to beat Pokemon Gold/Silver (23M) and Super Mario World (20.61M)
NSMB is at 16.21M. Sells good overall, and should manage to overtake SMW. It is unlikely that it will make 23M though, and if another title beats NSMB and sells more than it, NSMB will not make it.
About (16.31M) the same as NSMB, but I don't think it will manage to beat NSMB in the long run, and does thus not have a change of entering the top 10.
...
I don't really know how much relevance it has to this thread, but I still posted it.

Nah, I think its relevant to the thread, Oyvoy.
I'm trying to figure out your by-generation totals, though. I don't think they make sense. And the VGC number for Pokemon RGB is 31.38m, btw.
Taking it a little bit farther... Pre-7th gen, the top 30 are:
1 Super Mario Bros. 40.24m
2 Pokemon Red / Green / Blue 31.38m
3 Tetris 30.26m
4 Duck Hunt 28.31m
5 Pokemon Gold / Silver 23.11m
6 Super Mario World 20.61m
7 Super Mario Land 18.14m
8 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 17.48m
9 Super Mario Bros. 3 17.28m
10 The Sims 16.08m
11 Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire 15.40m
12 Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec 14.87m
13 Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition 14.64m
14 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 14.20m
15 Super Mario 64 11.89m
16 Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green 11.82m (Nintendo shipment number)
17 Grand Theft Auto III 11.60m
18 Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins 11.18m
19 Gran Turismo 10.85m
20 Super Mario All-Stars 10.55m
21 Gran Turismo 4 10.18m (Polyphony shipment number)
22 Mario Kart 64 9.87m
23 Final Fantasy VII 9.72m
24 Gran Turismo 2 9.37m
25 Donkey Kong Country 9.30m
26 World of Warcraft 9.19m
27 Super Mario Kart 8.76m
28 Halo 2 8.46m
29 GoldenEye 007 8.09m
30 Final Fantasy X 7.95m
This list is being totally rewritten, basically. 7th gen games which have beaten or could beat that 7.95m mark of FFX at 30, include:
Wii Sports
Nintendogs
Wii Play
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
New Super Mario Bros.
Brain Training
More Brain Training
Mario Kart DS
Wii Fit
Mario Kart Wii
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Halo 3
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy
Call of Duty 4 360
Super Mario 64 DS
Grand Theft Auto IV 360
Mario and Sonic at the Olympics Wii
Gears of War 2
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Gran Turismo 5
Wii Sports Resort
Etc. It's hard to try and peg all of those into the list, but you get the point... The barrier to being a top 30 all-time game will go from below 8m, to well over 10m, half of the top 10 and top 20 will be current-gen games, and the number of all-time 20m sellers could go from 6 to 12 or higher.
