That's simple, it isn't about what Kinect is trying to duplicate, it's how it was sold. It was sold as an add-on to the X360 system, and it should be compared to add-ons to other systems. If the next console includes one with every unit then it can be compared to a primary, manditory controller like the Wiimote.

depends on the context of the discussion (which the OP didn't provide).  if you are taking sales ... torillian is 100% correct.  if you are talking gameplay quality ... perhaps the OP has a valid point.

What context? Its quite simply really, what makes Kinect more comparable to the Balance Board? All I see is people putting up the disadvantages Kinect has the Wii remote. I can name a bunch of disadvantages the Balance Board has compared to Kinect. I'm not doing that though because thats irrelevant. Kinect's disadvantages come from being a copied stragety. Kinect was made to make what the Wii Remote could do for the Wii possible on the 360. I guess Just Dance being exclusive to the Wii and Just Dance 2 releasing for Kinect was just a coincidence.

The sensor bar you mean?

Yes.

Seriously though, Kinect comes bundled with certain consoles. The WIi remote comes bundled with all consoles.

One is mandatory. The other one isn't.

I know you know this comparison is unfair. I guess you just felt like making a thread or something.

Yet another excuse, just like the Wii remote is more bundled than Kinect, Kinect is more bundled than the Balance Board. So what's your point?

Wiimote has buttons, Kinect doesn't.

Kinect has motion sensing, Balance Board doesn't.

We comparing it to the Wiimote or the Balance board?

I am asking what makes Kinect a more fair comparison to the Balance Board instead of the Wii remote?

How was it sold as an add on if it comes bundled with 360's and it made software on the 360 possible? Its not an add-on, its a second primary controller. It comes bundled with 360's and it can also function without the 360 contoller.

Because Kinect isn't bundled with every 360, and it wasn't at the start of the gen.  Fairly sure everything you've mentioned applies to the Wii fit bored as well.  How it was sold it the most important thing if you want to compare sales of two things.  A controller that has been mandiroty since the Wii was introduced is just not the same as an optional controller introduced halfway through.

I've already said my point. The Wii remote vs Kinect sales comparison is unfair.

You are wise beyond your years, Torillian.

Not to mention that one is a $150 accessory that few games use while the other is utilized by every game on the console.

Its not $150 accessory, its bundled lol. Also it's $250 bundled with the 360, sounds familiar lol.

Yes, but for the primary userbase (i.e. the ~ 68 million who already own a 360), it's still an overpriced accessory.

Kinect released in 2010, the 360 definitely wasn't pushing 68 million. Also the 360 has had its best years ever since Kinect. Kinect is a bundled primary controller just like the Wii remote. Its also sold separately just like the Wii remote. I don't care how expensive it is, MS just it, knowing it would be an expensive option to the Wii remote. Being expensive didn't stop the PS3 from continuing to outsell the 360 even with being more expensive.

That's easy.

Kinect = add-on peripheral

Balance Board = add-on peripheral

Wiimote = Standard Wii controller since launch

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Because PS Move looks like it offcourse

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yes it is if it gives the platform games it never had to begin with. Nothing I have said applies to the Balance Board. Its not heavily bundled and alot of the games both the Wii Remote and kinect can do, cant be done with the Balance Board. The balance board can't even act as a primary controller. May I also add, why are sales even relevant to our discussion? The Wii Remote would have beaten the 360 with Kinect regardless. Kinect hasn't even been enough to keep the 360 from getting passed by the PS3. Kinect also doesn't have the benefit of having high selling first party games the Wii remote has. Halo can't be done with kinect so thats out of the question. Kinect would have lost sales wise regardless to the Wii remote.

So is kinect vs. Balance board.
