Forums - Gaming - Kinect is not comparable to the Wii Remote or Balance Board.

1. The Kinect is not compared to the Wiimote because the Wiimote is actually a useful controller that is compatible with more or less 99% of Wii games out there. The Kinect is a peripheral that is compatible with less than ten percent of the X-Box's library and that is a very generous estimate.

2. Being able to control the system with the Kinect does not make it a primary controller. I can control my Wii with a Classic controller or a Guitar hero guitar. I could control my X-Box 360 with a set of rock band drums. I can control my PS2 with a DDR Mat. I can control my Gamecube with a Madcatz Arcade stick. And so on so forth.

3. Who's comparing the Kinect to the Balance Board? I don't get the logic of this topic. "The Kinect shouldn't be compared to the balance board so we should compare it to the Wii Remote." What is this... I don't even...

4. The Kinect shouldn't be compared to the Wii Remote or the Balance Board. It should be compared to a koosh ball. It's interesting to play with for about five minutes until you realize it's useful and throw it away.

I respect your opinion thanks for actually contributing. I will change my thread and give in. Kinect isn't comparable to neither the Wii Remote or Balance Board.

I am 300 miles from home right now so I can't tell you exactly which menus off the top of my head. I have two Xbox 360s. One of them has Kinect. One does not. Often, I begin in the living room using Kinect with no Xbox 360 controlle and, while exploring the dashboard, I always stumble across a menu or option that says "you will need an Xbox controller to continue."

That makes me feel that, while Kinect can do many things, it is not the primary controller because you can't even use it for certain simple settings.

Its ok I give in, Kinect isn't comparable to either. Can we agree on that? There are just too many differences between them all. Kinect and the Balance Board together are the most successful non-button having devices ever for home video game consoles.

Now, I feel bad. I liked doing battle with you but I never wanted you to give in. You are the ultimate opponent. Oh, well. I gotta wake up in 4.5 hours. Goodnight, man. Thanks for keeping VGChartz exciting.

I can continue my rant tomorrow if you would like. You know I can find a way to spin my giving up lol.
