couldnt you just buy a Kinect by itself?

Camera =/= Remote.

Do you know what heavily bundled means? Also nice try lol, it has to actually be a controller. Im serious because don't see any reason for it to be more fair to compare it to the Balance Board. Kinect was heavily bundled and wasn't made for a single game. You don't even need a 360 controller if you have Kinect. The point is, its more like the Wii Remote than the Balance Board. These excuses of it being an add-on stem from knowing if its compared to the Wii Remote it wouldn't look much like a success.

Yep you can buy a Wii remote by itself.

360 controller =/= Remote

The Wii remote was an inexpensive, yet very smart idea. New experiences could be introduced for a decent price, plus, more traditional experiences could work almost as well. Kinect was very different, but also very limited in it's potential. Not to mention, Kinect wasn't cheap.

Keyboard + Mouse =/= 360 Controller

Point being, there's not much to compare in terms of the actual devices. Only their success in the market, which is still difficult to compare due to both having rather different approaches and circumstances.

I agree Jon but that doesn't mean they aren't comparable(if thats what you are saying). Microsoft chose Kinect and knew what they were getting into. They saw a way to get Wii like games on the 360. Bundled the crap out of it to build its base(something that's done with primary controllers as well) and treated it like a primary controller. It should be considered as much of a primary controller as the 360 controller since they both have games that don't work for them and neither one of them needs the other. The unbundled consoles without kinect are for consumers not interested in Wii like gaming so they wouldn't have bought a Wii either. Kinect was made to obviously compete with the Wii and the Wii remote. Just Dance was exclusive, now not so much. First chance Microsoft got at getting exclusive Wii games they took it. One of the controllers even mentions something along the lines of "instead of one handed controllers, how about no hands!" Ima try to find that video, it may have been when they annouced it e3.

Ok. And Kinect is also a complete failure next to DualShock 3? 

The Balance Board is compatible with more than just Wii-Fit, FYI. Just like Kinect is an add-on compatible with more than just Kinect Adventure. Or like the Move controller can be used to control your PS3, just like Kinect does for the 360, yet isn't considered the primary controller for the PS3.

Your stance here is near the epitome of grasping at straw.
