Halo 4 looks overtracked, no way it's competing with black ops 2 on 360, it should only be competing with black ops 2 on ps3

it doesn't look overtracked, black ops just looks undertracked.

yes like i said, black ops looks undertracked.

and what is recent history and "always"? there is only 1 halo game you can maybe compare with cod of the same year and this is reach and even then, both had different releases, cod in holiday season and halo pre-holiday season so even these numbers are not really comparable.

btw i just checked the numbers, in 2010, halo reach had ~1,200,000 preorders 3 weeks before release and the ps3 cod had ~800k preorders 4 weeks before release so there was also an almost 400k gap with same time before release.

Halo: Reach (X360)
Microsoft, Shooter
3 166,818 1,193,162
Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3)
Activision, Shooter
4 55,702 816,721

if you have still a theory i would like to hear it.

It's like you never read any of the pre-order charts threads of the last couple of weeks....

Persona 4 numbers must be wrong. It can't be selling this much.

He's also said, on many occassions, that he only knows Gamestop numbers which are about 80% (?) of pre-orders, he reckons.  There's still other sources out there.

He can say with certainty if numbers are undertracked because if he has access to Gamestop figures and they're more than what we have here, then it's obvious.  It's less certain for him to call something overtracked as he doesn't have access to everything.

The pre-orders shot up with the limited edition was available.  So depending how many of those gets shipped I'd imagine will influence how well the game does in pre-orders.

Halo reach did 2.3m opening week while black ops on ps3 did 2m, plus halo isn't competing with cod, so modern warfare 3 on ps3 did 2.2m on ps3, meaning every cod is improving in north america, plus have you seen how huge cod opens on the 360 in north america? the 360 version of black ops 2 should be a clear 500k ahead.

ok and why did i say to you that halo reach didn't release in holiday season but halo 4 does?

and what exactly does this change when i said cod looks undertracked and not halo overtracked? did i ever say cod won't sell as much as halo or anything? why is this theory not more logical for you?

it's funny, you said cod improved every year, then you see cod preorders here are even lower as in 2010 and instead of you thinking about too low cod preorder numbers you think halo has to be overtracked. that makes 0 sense. everything you said should let you think cod is undertracked.

btw if you think halo is so much overtracked, can you say me what you believe halo 4 will sell first week? reach sold 2.3 million right? preorder numbers of halo 4 are lower as for reach here on vgc and if you think those lower numbers are even overtracked, what do you expect for halo 4 first week? 1.4 million? or mabye even less?

- lots and lots of numbers -

As usual, thanks for posting this Criss, I appreciate it!

Where to begin, hmm.

Decent climb for New Super Mario Bros Wii-U!

God of War Ascension seems slow but has some really nice numbers this far from release, I'm impressed.  The Last of Us is also pretty slow (but I guess there's no news about it recently).  Nice to see Need for Speed finally charting as well!  I reckon it's pretty severely undertracked.

Pretty poor showings from LittleBigPlanet & Playstation All-Stars.  Bit of a shame.

Fairly decent week for AC3: Liberation.  Looks like it's gonna end around 60k at launch, which is nice but not stellar.  Decent for Ragnarok Odyssey too, seems like it'll end on 25k-ish, and some numbers for Silent Hill: Book of Memories!  I wonder if it's gonna chart next week.

Overstrike numbers just seem shoe-horned in (36 for each version this week, hmm...) and I wonder who the 99 people are who are pre-ordering Last Guardian every week, lol.
