Forums - Nintendo - Wii U "surprisingly powerful," textures "could be used in a movie."

Another quote by a developer "actually" developing a Wii U title on the power and versatility of the Wii U: http://wiiudaily.com/2012/10/wii-u-developer-wii-u-is-a-powerful-versatile-machine/ Anyone still thinking that the Wii U is on par with the last-gen HD systems must be the same people that threw fits when Bayonetta 2 was announced as Wii U exclusive!!!

I think one of the problems with Nintendo cutting ties with technically proficient 2nd party partners like Rare and Factor 5 is that it's resulted in this situation where you have a launch with no titles really showing what the system supposedly can do.

There's no content yet to back up these claims, as Mass Effect 3 looks the same on Wii U as the other platforms.

Maybe Aliens Colonel Marines next year might show some notable differences.

Even with 3DS, right away we saw the Resident Evil games which showed what the hardware can do at the high end.

and I have a feeling, despite RE:R being as gorgeous as it is; 3DS will have better visually appealing games yet to come (KI:Uprising gave Revelations a run for it's money IMHO; as well as Nano Assault and KH:DDD)

Sigh all you want, they moved about as fluidly as Frankenstein with a backache.

perhaps they used a ps2 to render it realtime?! *rofl*

This is really just reinstates what everyone already knows, the system is more powerful then the current systems. We still don't fully know the extent to which its visuals wills surpass them though.

However the comment about it using Movie quality textures on the occasion gives the impression that the system will at least be powerful enough to handle anything developers imagine in regards to 2D games and highly stylised art assets (like windwaker).

Ok, I hope we´ll be able to see at least one game that blows the current HD systems out of the water by December 2013.

Remember what a difference one year made for the 360 when Gears was released, it was the first title that actually 'felt next gen'.

Now I expect something similar here, hoping to see at least one game (maybe from Retro?) that really makes me think "welcome, next generation, now we´re talking!" as far as graphical capabilities and visual effects are concerned..and that, ideally by December 2013, just as the other next gen systems are launching.

@JGarret: I actually expect a glimpe of that kind of games by E3, specially from Retro and/or Monolith.

In part because developers will have had more time to learn and tinker with the console, and in part because Nintendo needs some game(s) that make people confident over WiiU after the probably announcement of at least 1 of the other next gen consoles.

OT. It's always welcome to hear that, but remember that he is talking about a 2D game. If someone says and does the same with a 3D game, now that would be something to talk and brag about.

Please excuse my bad English.

No one thinks that... the Wii U specs are better than current gen but not that better.

It's not like 3x or 4x the PS360... it's just 1.5x.

I think Wii U still will have trouble with 1080p@60fps.

we don't know how nextbox or ps4 will perform. next gen is not about more fps or higher resolution but a lot more detail/grahical details and bigger worlds. improving both detail *and* resolution *and* fps is something not that easy to handle. not for nintendo, not for ms and not for sony.

That's just fantastic news.
