Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Surface Commercial

WTF did I just watch? People like this ad? That's a hell of a boot up routine those people need to go through.

I agree with Kantor. Those are some crazy expensive frisbees.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

This is so pretentious.

It says nothing about the actual product, just "LOOK HOW MUCH FUN THESE PEOPLE ARE HAVING, YOU CAN HAVE FUN TOO IF YOU BUY OUR PRODUCT!"

They're not even using the damned thing, they're just throwing it around and sliding it over tables.

Really?  So it didn't show the keyboard?  it didn't show the stand?  it didn't show Windows 8?  Really? For a moderator that post you said was kind of out going wasn't it?

Being a moderator means I can't criticise an advert?

And yes, it showed the keyboard and stand, but at no point did it actually show people properly using the tablet.

It's an introduction advert, Kantor.  It's meant to introduce the product to the general, TV watching public.

Again, the intention of the commercial is to get people to say "What is that?"  and "Where can I get more info." if they aren't already sold on the product.  If they would never be interested in the product, they're not going to be regardless of what they see.

I think once Windows 8 releases, you'll see commercials about what Windows 8 can do.  But there's no reason to do a Windows 8 specific, Surface commercial.  Mostly because Windows 8 is essentially the same regardless of what tablet, laptop, or desktop it's on.

The ad is cool, I like it a lot!
This thing is so bought! Dream come true, a non iOS (dislike) tablet that isn't android (really don't like)

People don't understand that in todays advertising age, its not about selling the specs, but rather showing the lifestyle association.

Anybody can look up specs on the internet, but what spec sheets don't tell you is how it impacts your life or if its even meant for you in the first place.

This ad was great in that it is appealing to the youth, geek, savi demographic. While not the target, im sure its also a given that this will be the new standard for business tablets.

It impacts your life so much that you burst spontanously into a dance whenever you see people around you that also have surface.

You'd be amazed at how often this happens.

I used to say "Life is a musical," but I think the appropriate quote for today's age is "Life is a lipdub."

I agree with the people saying that the commercial is meant to show off the differences and Win8 and I think they accomplished that mission. The other detailed video was also very good but too long for tv. MS knows how to market shit that's for sure.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

It's a well made commercial but I just don't know why it's a big deal

That was worse than the shity ipod adds

It must be the first time I see a MS product that's actually cool, although I should try it to tell if it's really good too.

BTW I recently tried a friend's iPad and while it can be a practical concept in many situations, I don't really like it very much: for some unknown reasons very often it didn't feel my touch and I had to "click" things many times, having to type much text the virtual keyboard isn't very comfy, and finally, special characters and accented letters aren't quickly accessible and this makes it awkward to type in Italian and even worse in French and Spanish (even writing a short message to my Peruvian GF was a pain on it).

Long story short: what I saw up until know made me decide that I'll probably end up buying a tablet, but I'll pay it as little as possible, as even the currently most expensive one isn't so good for my tastes, and I like it less than notebooks that I could pay half as much.
