Today's the sttart of the 30-day countdown 'till the Wii U Lainch...and still no Wii U ads, tv commericals, trailers, etc. As a result, people are not aware of the Wii U. If they are, they think it's a ad-on for the original Wii. Miiverse is still a mystery. Nintendo Network/Online info is dry. Nintendo better start their ad campaign for Wii U asap!...sigh until Nitnendo starts rolling their Wii U marketing, I made some Wii U trialers for you guys to enjoy; just reminds you that the Wii U is coming in 30 days. I don't really remember seeing PS3 or 360 or Wii ads a full month before launch either but maybe my memory is hazy.

I do know MS obviously had that MTV unveiling for the 360, but in terms of commercials, don't they generally come closer to launch?

I remember the PS3 had their ads rolling way before launch. The 3DS ads startred rolling 2 months befoire launch. The Wii U is less than a month away and still no ads, and Miiverse and Nintendo Network/Online are still to be seen/known. I'm just really intrigued by Miiverse and how it supposed to be a social hub for core gamers, but I'm just really getting impateint about the lack of news about it since I've been to E3. I hope they start advertizing it next week. I heard X Factor this saturday will show a Wii U ad. So I'll be checking that out. 

I thought it would be more fitting to start the ads 15 before the release date. Had no idea that the 3DS ads launched way before...

The date of this article would suggest the TV marketing for the Wii started just five days prior to its American launch...

Miiverse isn't really a mystery; it's Nintendo style Facebook with an emphasis on gaming. Also, marketing doesn't really need to kick in right away because the Wii U is sold out for months already; millions of people are already sold on it as an 'early as available' purchase. It would not really improve sales to have a mass marketing campaign right now.

It is next year when marketing will become important.

To build a brand and brand awareness though you have to establish that now.

Apple knows every iPhone is going to sell, but they still make a ton of commercials for each new iteration. It's about building brand awareness and keeping the brand in the mind of the average consumer (not just the die hard one).
