Forums - Sony - Vita's Killer App IS coming

Considering this game has a female protagonist, a first for an assassin's creed, there is quite a bit a bit of a difference between this game and AC III.

At least, in terms of non-gameplay elements.

Even in gameplay they did quite a bit of changes. In this game afaik there is no 'block' ..it also uses costumes as tools to change personality of Aveline. Kind of like how Hitman can disguise himself depending on the job

So AC fans who have a Vita are going to spend over a $100 to play two AC games on the same day? ($160 if they go for the Limited Edition PS3/360 version) Seems like a tall order...

I'd think an AC fan, would go for the PS3/360 version over the Vita version as that's what they've played the series on. This game seems like an afterthought. Ubisoft should have gone for a different release date to make it stand out more on it's own.

Last time I checked, doing that was against the rules.

Could you refer me to that rule?

"Do not use the title as a deceptive hook to lure people in." - rules

Yes, but this rule has nothing to do with my title. I said it was to increase hits but it is not "deceptive".

You say it has nothing to do with your title, then go right back and admit half of it applies.

And yes, the title is deceptive, Liberation doesn't look to be a killer app at all. Otherwise, you wouldn't see most posts here disagreeing with you. You probably don't even believe it yourself.

But how much people coming on here owns a Vita? Or even knows anything about it? Also this does look to be a killer app seeing how popular AC is. It may not be right away but it will do numbers

Now for everyones information multiple things will see this games success.
The white vita releases the same day and it comes with AC3L and a Memory Card free
2 the game has quite afew differences qnd AC fans will be curious to what the game is and look it up and see it.
This game isn't even in the same time period nor are they directly linked. So its quite different
I'm not a AC fan and I can see the differences easily from this trailer and if you don't think this trailer looks great but yoh think AC3 looks great, you either have Vita hate, AC hate, or in denial straight up good bye. I'm out

this game should start vita sales going. It convinces me to buy vita anyway and im a big AC fan. I can't wait to get my Vita and this, some time. Its gonna be awesome

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

It looks nice visually. Definitely a big step down from the console versions though.

The thing is, the rule isn't "Do not use the title as a hook to lure people in". If it was, about 30-50% of thread titles on here would be against the rules. Adding "deceptive" to the rule completely changes it, so no...I did not admit half of it applies.

Whether it's a killer app or not is a matter of opinion and speculation. That is not what deception means.

No, most threads don't do this. The half that applies to you is the part about deliberately wording your to to lure people in. Not sure what you'd call that, but honest sure isn't it. Besides this, your title violates another part of the rule about being descriptive.

I don't want to derail the thread any further. Let's just say we disagree about whether this truly is Vita's killer app, that's if you actually believe it yourself (or maybe we disagree about the definition of the term killer app).

People isn't going to buy a Wii U to play multiplatform games but they are going to buy a PSVita to play multiplatform games. Makes sense.

1. Its not multiplatform, its PSVita exclusive. Its an entirely different game from AC3.

2. The fact its handheld differentiates it even further from the console version, people may buy this game based not only on its own merits (lets wait for reviews), but because its an entirely new way to experience the AC franchise. There have been other portable titles (bloodlines) but they were so deeply gimped they're not even worth mentioning.

I know what it is. But 95% of the people out there don't know it. For them my statement is true, hence it won't be a killer app.

Edit - Heck, even SCEE doesn't know this is an exclusive. Notice the lack of "Only On PlayStation" in the european cover:

Thats true, but that 95% of people don't matter at the moment. Before Vita begins to even touch that larger markets, They need to convince many of the core gamers who do pay attention to the industry, but haven't yet been enticed by the Vita's line up. Theres enough of them to make up a strong christmas for Sony.

I dare say the majority of people on site interest in the Vita as a system but haven't picked it yet. They'll provide the Vita with a strong 10-12m base if sony pushes the right buttons between now and spring.
