Forums - General - Remembering the VGChartz past part 1

Today I was hit by the nostalgia glove so I decided to search for some iconic VGChartz Threads, here are only some of them:

1.- NPD April 2008 - Does anyone remember this one? All the laughts, cries and sentiment of disbelief and also this was an era when ioi participated in the forum

2.- The Smash Bros Dojo Thread - This one was deleted because its size was crashing the forums, ah the memories of japan time and anticipation for updates

3.- Crazzymans PS3 2008 vs PS2 2001 - Who could forget one of our craziest members and one of his craziest threads?

4.- Final Fantasy 13 announced for the X360 - I was looking for this one but I couldnt find it but I still remember all the meltdowns, also it doesnt hurt that I was the one who added the game to the database :P

So does anyone remember those simpler times?

I remember when 'the numbers' were dominating this site as they should. Much more interesting threads and posts indeed.
Always fun to read, even Crazzymans moments of insanity.

I was watching that announcement at the time, as a surprise it was very good, the aftermath was mostly sad ;)

Yeah, good ol' times indeed...

It was a different time, we used to have a top 200 in America and Japan and a top 100 in Europe, we could post on the weekly charts, we could search by platform in the charts, we had numbers for every game on chart, we could help the site by uploading boxarts, screenshots and games on the database and the site design didnt crash my wii while loading, also my best friends on the site left years ago (pichu_pichu, zexen_lowe, elgefe02, fazz, *yoshi*, etc).... is pretty sad the state now

I had many of the same friends as you Manuel. I really miss pichu and elgefe. :(

I remember the final fantasy 13 thread that was a drama, even though it says I signed up in 2010 I've actually been using this site since about 3 months before Metal Gear Solid 4 came out I just didn't get around to making an account until 2009 then forgot my password for my account aswell and the email address I was using got hacked so ended up making this one.

With the upcoming release of Wii U and subsequent release of PS4/Nxtbox i'm sure we will get a flood of new members and the Chartz will most likely dominate talk.

There have indeed been some epic threads, I really miss the discussions that would arise every week in the sales thread. Overall, debates have less susbstance now than it used to and sales threads often get less attention and pages than threads with silly or off-topic themes.

Don't get me wrong though, there are still great debates in here at times and I still enjoy the forums a great deal!

I've often browsed through old threads myself, mostly to check back on silly predictions people have had/still have and how the general consensus has changed slowly but certainly over the years.

Here's the FFXIII thread:

The thing I miss most about "old" Vgchartz is how 90% of all threads were discussion about sales and numbers and predictions. Those days were epic.

Im excited for the beginning of next gen because I think well see the return of crazy predictions and the fun numbers threads. This late in this generation we pretty much know how everythings going to perform so tue numbers get a little boring
