Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales week 41- Famitsu and M-create ( October 8-14)

This is a sales site so im sure your focused is on the 3DS-Vita marketshare difference, but Sony priorities shouldnt be to worry about the 3DS and MH4 but to combat the problems that it has in front of them or to plan to exit the space. Focusing on MH or 3DS gap only takes focus off what they need to do.

While it's true, it just doesn't look like they know what to do. With current lineup, Sony basically gives up on VITA for holiday 2012. Unless that's part of their plan...

Vita has plenty of saviours as well, just not many announced ;-P. Vita is doing badly, but so was the PS3 and Sony cut the price back then but haven't done so for the Vita. When they do, we'll see Vita sales rise and more and more devs getting on-board. And nobody has Capcom in their pocket

PS3 was never doing as bad as VITA is doing now in Japan and it got a price cut 11 months after launch. In additon, the gap between Wii and PS3 is never as wide as the one 3DS and VITa has right now. I wonder how much wider the gap needs to be before Sony announced those saviours that you are referring to.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva F is well over 200k with the digital sales and it was released just one month ago, Theatrhym came out in March. Many people got a Vita just for this game even in Europe where it costs a lot to import (please refer to my article). Needless to say, PSVita has a much narrower install base than 3DS in Japan, so I think it's safe to assume that Project Diva F is a bigger success than Theatrhym. That said, if SquareEnix is satisfied with the current sales, then I was wrong (but their target is curiously low).

You gotta be kidding... let it go. I just proved to you the game was a success - 140k+ in japan (apart from being sold-out), ~75k US alone, plus whatever sales europe and the rest of the world had. Plus DLC that is not cheap - neither in japan or in the US. I know cause I bought a lot of it - costs more than the game.

You're really funny here in this thread, lol. I show you hard facts and you show me your personal blog with your personal analysis, that means jack - or nothing but guesswork. One dev complains about the sales and denies a sequel because of those sales and costs and the other feels sorry for the sell-outs and talks about future sequels... yeah, bigger success lol.

I meant in sales, not profit. Theatrhym might be more profitable, but it is less popular.

PDf already had the advantage in sales because it has a fanbase backing it up, despite the low installed base. T:FF didn't have that luxury, because it was new, rhythmical spin off of a soured brand. And I would say they were satisfied with its sales, seeing as there was demand that exceeded stock. Whereas PDf as supposedly didn't sell as much as Sega wanted to.

-------

Pleasantly surprised at Bravely Default's performance, sold more than I thought it would. PxZ on the other hand sold less than I expected.

Not looking good for the wii, it could be on its last legs, even the vita is dominating it in sales now.

You should try out Devil Survivor then if you're interested in SRPGs.

Yes, I should. I actually considered it a few times before.

But just not now, playing Mario and X-Com (both very good games) and next buy is Layton + Code of Princess + Brain Age 3.

Maybe on the first 2013 buy - Nintendo could facilitate and make it downloadable.

"Could be"?

Wow, they couldn't make it uglier if they tried.

It's like they're saying... "you thought you were so cool waiting huh, smart guy. Here's the cover you'll be looking for your whole life."
