Another bullshit Sony is doomed thread.

Nobody said doomed. The article says Sony could lose the holiday sales war. They can still sell a decent amount and make profit, but would still lose to Nintendo and MS.

Sony always loses in the holidays. Why state the obvious? Oh right because its cool to say Sony is doomed these days.

"always"? More like the last couple years. No need to degrade your God. It aint bovious because there is actually people who think PS3 outsold 360 from Jan-Oct and will keep the momentum going.

Its cool to say Sony is doomed threads but you know whats even cooler? Bashing MS and Xbox 360 offcourse.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

The PS3 loses market share every year. That's pretty much an inevitable fact for Sony. They can't fight it, so there's no sense in lowering the price and profits to chase a goal that they know they can't accomplish. Additionally, one price-cut isn't going to be the deciding factor in whether or not the PS3 wins (or loses) this year. It's currently selling pretty good anyway, so there's no need to slash profits. The slim has made a considerable impact in Europe and I expect this trend to continue for the rest of the year. We'll have to wait and see the impact that it'll have in USA if and when they start advertising. As of now, the benefits for a price-cut pale in comparison to the disadvantages.

Its fairly obvious that Sony has removed itself from the whole "console war" or bragging rights competition. Putting Nintendo aside, after going from 150+ mil sold vs 24 mil for Xbox, to LOSING by a few mil in PS3 vs 360, you think Sony gives a rats about technicalities NOW? Sony's already "lost", BIG TIME, in that regard (MS is new "hardcore king" in the US. trends show EUR will follow soon). Its all about making profits now for Sony, and you can't blame them. Matter of fact, I commend them for not following in the price cut, since they still have that blu ray advantage (lol) over the competition, along w/free online play (vs XBL) so they still have more to offer.

What trends are those?

when it comes to entertainment Europe always follow the US.

Look at the decrease of Japanese content and the increase of American Content.

Look at the PS1
Top10 selling games: 4 Japanese franchises, 2 Western franchises

PS2
Top10 selling games: 3 Japanese franchises, 3 Western franchises

PS3
Top10 selling games: 2 Japanese franchises, 5 Western franchises

One of the reasons is that the European culture is more like the American and less like the Asian culture.
That is what makes NA so important. It is not just because it sells the most hard- and software, it is because it actually influences and indicates the European market as well. There is no game that is really big in the US and totally ignored in Europe - except the sports games Madden / Fifa etc.

A huge hit in NA always means a hit in Europe as well.

But a hit in Japan is not always a hit in Europe (Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest).

Not just the trend of Xbox's growth in EUR, but about how in GENERAL, the US sets the trends, and the Euros follow.  Aside from Soccer vs. NFL, every one knows Europe follows American culture, so we won't even debate that fact.

The only place where they won't follow the US trends, are territories that are known for being more "xenophobic", like Japan, who will never embrace Xbox. It won't matter however, and Sony from here on out is locked in 3rd place. MS will continue separating itself from Sony, because they have taken over the US.  That means more Americans will "wise up", and follow their friends, going with the more powerful Microsoft brand vs Sony's fledgling brand.  As this perception and trend increases, it will affect Europe, NO QUESTION about it.   buts Its only my (humble, worthless) opinion, & you all are free to disagree.

The similarities between Europe and NA aren't as strong as you might think. In the early years of this generation, the 360 was outselling the PS3 in Europe. However, in the later years, the PS3 began to outsell the 360. This shows that Europe went from Pro Xbox to Pro Playstation the gen, which is actually the opposite of the trend in America.

You can write that the other way around, the US follows Europe, but sells more and it still sounds correct. Doesn't prove much.

Sony could sell more units with a price cut. Thanks analysts.

Sony need to focus in profit not market share

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Look at the biggest franchises this generation - most of them are American.

- Halo
- CoD
- Assassin's Creed
- GTA
- Skyrim
- Gears of War
- Uncharted
- Left 4 Dead / Portal / TF
- Mass Effect
- BioShock
- God of War

Or look at movies. No way Europe can keep up with NA in entertainment. It is just a fact.

True, big francises com from america and japan. Today, there are more that come from america than japan, in the past it was the other way around. This has nothing to do with america setting the consumption trend, it has to do with game quality (the japanese game developers agree). It still does not prove that EU follows america, just that the big franchises are made there. Yess, we tend to like the same stuff, not suprising since they were us once.

The link with the hardware business is whishfull thinking. As it was already presented, at the start of the generation the EU seamed to favore the Xbox and the US too. Now, the EU strongly favors the PS3 while the us still favors the Xbox.

Log story short, we can't say much about next gen sales.

I honestly think Sony realize they wont defeat the Xbox brand in NA and are instead focusing on Europe instead.

Every move theyve done lately points to this
