The PS3 loses market share every year. That's pretty much an inevitable fact for Sony. They can't fight it, so there's no sense in lowering the price and profits to chase a goal that they know they can't accomplish. Additionally, one price-cut isn't going to be the deciding factor in whether or not the PS3 wins (or loses) this year. It's currently selling pretty good anyway, so there's no need to slash profits. The slim has made a considerable impact in Europe and I expect this trend to continue for the rest of the year. We'll have to wait and see the impact that it'll have in USA if and when they start advertising. As of now, the benefits for a price-cut pale in comparison to the disadvantages.
