when it comes to entertainment Europe always follow the US.

Look at the decrease of Japanese content and the increase of American Content.

Look at the PS1
Top10 selling games: 4 Japanese franchises, 2 Western franchises

PS2
Top10 selling games: 3 Japanese franchises, 3 Western franchises

PS3
Top10 selling games: 2 Japanese franchises, 5 Western franchises

One of the reasons is that the European culture is more like the American and less like the Asian culture.
That is what makes NA so important. It is not just because it sells the most hard- and software, it is because it actually influences and indicates the European market as well. There is no game that is really big in the US and totally ignored in Europe - except the sports games Madden / Fifa etc.

A huge hit in NA always means a hit in Europe as well.

But a hit in Japan is not always a hit in Europe (Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest).

You can write that the other way around, the US follows Europe, but sells more and it still sounds correct. Doesn't prove much.

Look at the biggest franchises this generation - most of them are American.

- Halo
- CoD
- Assassin's Creed
- GTA
- Skyrim
- Gears of War
- Uncharted
- Left 4 Dead / Portal / TF
- Mass Effect
- BioShock
- God of War

Or look at movies. No way Europe can keep up with NA in entertainment. It is just a fact.
