Forums - Nintendo - Namco-Bandai: No Plans for Tales on WiiU "at this time"

Well either way, I'm not expecting Tales to stay exclusive to Sony forever. Given that WiiU is poised to make a splash in the Japanese market, it's inevitable that Namco will wanna bring this franchise to WiiU... especially if it proves to be a viable market for JRPGs.

^ absolutely. If Wii U proves popular with core Tales fanbase and they embrace Tales on system. Power to them. My main point is me and you shouldn't worry about this. Its not aimed at us. Just ppl who get to play it once in awhile

Yeah, well here's the thing:  WiiU is practically POISED to take over the JRPG market what with MH and DQ.  Both of which are guaranteed to be successes.  And I think DQ is one of the "leading" franchises that signals other 3rd parties to jump aboard the hype train.  In the event that it happens, I expect Tales sometime between 2014-2015... that is, should the system sell well.

And it's not like Namco hasn't tested Tales before.  The Dawn of the New World sequel was kinda a test release (although I find it odd that some people are stating that Namco is disappointed in the sales of that particular game, especially since it basically gave them the greenlight to make Graces), and it did good enough for them to make Graces on Wii.  (Of course we all know what happened after that, but still.)

Wii U has a port of a Online DQ and a port of 3DS game and suddenly it's gonna take over the console RPG market?

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Why not? A lot of gamers go crazy over MH and DQ.  And given the popularity of those two franchises, it'll be just the greenlight other 3rd parties may be looking for in order to go ahead and put the JRPGs on WiiU.

Remember that Wii also had a mainline non port MH and a DQ. MH audience is on handhelds not consoles. I don't think MH3U is gonna help Wii U getting more RPG (MH is not and RPG to begin with) . And Dragon Quest is an port of an online DQ, that's not gonna help much either. Perphaps DQXI (non online) would help but that's 3DS's bounded. When DQX was annouced for Wii a lot of people, including myself, thought that there's was going to be a lot of new RPG games for Wii but it didn't happen.

Just because that's how it turned out with Wii doesn't mean that the same scenario will repeat with WiiU.

Yeah but you can say that of every possible thing in the world :P

There's zero evidence that things will turn out to be like you said, what I posted what based on facts: MH3U is a port of a 3DS game (MH  is huge on handhelds not on consoles) and DQ in an online game that have sold way less than previous iterations (because it's online).

Whatever. I refuse to believe we won't see Tales on WiiU, especially since history has shown that Namco HAS brought the series to other platforms.  It's inevitable WiiU WILL get its turn.  The question is "when"?

Xbox360
Tales of Vesperia (Western release only)

Not sure if I understand what you're saying but I was first released in Japan as a 360 exclusive.
