Guys I think you're ignoring the fact a Vita game won TGS game of the year award..

I mean is it wrong for me to bring irrefutable factual evidence to this discussion? Should I keep my arguments based on opinion? lol

I think Gravity Rush is an interesting game and won by innovation because the idea is really good, not necessarily because it's the game of flawless victory.

indeed the game is very good. I wont lie about this, its the first game that got me feeling weird like if i'm actually falling..talk about the immersion.

yeah once you can get the controls down, it's a pretty fun game, I just wish it was a higher profile PS3 game, they could do so much more with it that way. my problem with the Vita is listed here if you are interested: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4830608 in the end it's all about current and future value as a consumer, I don't know why a person(not you) was trying to bring up 1st year comparison since that's more philosophical and not based on current reality lol.

Vita's Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Super Stardust Delta, Persona 4:Golden, and Little Big Planet PSVita trumps anything that 3DS could offer. Not a fan of Mario games period which eliminates more than half of any decent games on the system. Pokemon would be a winner for me, but that is just one game, refuse to get it just for that.

Do more research, you don't even need to buy a Mario game to have a good time with the 3DS, it's just added bonus and they are good games.

For my tastes, 3DS is just severly lacking. Some of it's games strike my interests every so often but not really my thing. Mario I would have at least given it the time of day if it wasn't on its umptenth itteration, just burnt out on it I suppose. Many of 3DS line up are games I've seen before, many times over. If I was to really flesh out an exstensive list of games I would consider...

3DS

  1. Pokemon Black and White 2 (Obssessed with this series as it feeds into my Pack Rat nature)
  2. Professor Layton (love solving things)
  3. Kingdom Hearts 3D....maybe (SE is running this series into the ground. KH3D looks good Gameplay wise but still looks like more filler to me)
  4. ...
  5. ...
That would be about it for a while until more games get announced for it. I won't even go into the fact 3D is all but forgotten mechanic on it when it was/is the big thing differentiating it from a normal DS. Looking forward to far more Vita games though.
Vita
  1. Soul Sacrifice
  2. Assassin's Creed: Liberations (More psyched for this than ACIII)
  3. KickBeat
  4. PASBR
  5. Legends of Heroes VI:Trails of Zero
  6. Sound Shapes (Out but haven't gotten it yet)
  7. Killzone: Mercenaries
  8. Ys: Celesta
  9. Final Fantasy Type-O
  10. FF X HD
  11. Rainbow Moon

wtf you have a PSP game on your list lol, don't even bring BC into this one :P I'm really surprised that you don't have Bravely Default listed since you seem to like SE stuff, I'd rather play that than something like FF X since I've already played FF X like 2x before. I also take it that you've never played the Ace Attorney series, not to mention your list is also one of those we've all seen it before in general list as well o_O; You are not exactly making good argument with your list at all although I think Soul Sacrifice looks really cool.

I have seen Bravely Default, the art style interests me and the fact it is more traditional.EDIT: I saw some early videos and it all seemed really basic but I just discovered a newer one and it does look really good. Reminds me a bit of Golden Sun, a series I really liked so If I had the chance I would get that as well.

FF Type-0(If that is what you mean) will never hit US PSPs due to the way it was made and piracy. It has been hinted to be coming to Vita instead for a while now and it would be the only way to get it over here. The rest are all main Vita titles.

I have not played Ace Attorney but have watched enough of it by roommate to know its not my thing exactly. Love the idea of lawyer game and what not but something about it comes off too ridiculous for me.

I find it funny that  some are very dismissive of Vita's library when it has so many great titles releasing for it soon, and even more in the future. The first thing that comes out of their mouths is it is ridden with Ports(which isn't any more true than 3DS is) and that all of it's games are better suited on console blah blah. I think I would need explaining on how portable mario is any different than what you can have in a console mario? Very little difference if any, and that is OK. There is nothing wrong with that but the fanboy goggles clouds ppl's judgment. The better graphics and strong CPU of Vita just means we no longer need dumbed down versions of games just to make them portable, and I like that. 3DS is capable of similar things and you are seeing that more and more with it's releases(Res:Revalations for one). This is not to say that simpler games are not wanted tho. Oh and the fact that some games are on both Vita and PS3 is a good thing in my eyes, the "never stop playing" idea is always what I wanted. And in some cases, I would have never thought to get a game on PS3...but would jump at it for Vita(Sly 4 for instance).

Nintendo is actually really good about that, you will find that Super Mario 3D Land is tailored towards a portable environment, it never takes long to complete a level unlike Mario Galaxy or Galaxy 2 yet it can be challenging, and there are a lot of levels that you can keep going back to. They really know what smart portable game design is, and you can clearly tell with a lot of their 3DS games that you never have to spend a long time to complete a level or 2, but that's really Nintendo alone in that department because they know what they are doing. I've never really had issues with console experiences on portables, I played the shit out of Birth by Sleep to 100% and other SE titles on PSP etc but I do have a problem with rehashs that are not really remakes (Tales re-releases in general, a lot of the FFs that are not actual remakes etc) because I think they should use their resources making new exciting games rather than wasting resources  unless they are doing complete awesome graphical overhaul remakes.

The problem right now is that the 3DS is simply too strong and dominant at a really good value, that's why Sony can't compete on the same level right now, they need to figure something out or the shit is going to hit the fan really fast.

I'm sure most people will agree the Vita Has had the more diverse/robust launch year, especially when you count in all the downloadable stuff. But Unlike the 3DS it hasn't that 9/10 game yet, although some may argue LBP is that title. One things for sure, it definitely won't end on the same high the 3DS did last, with Mario Kart 7 and Mario Land 3D.

just sayin' 3DS has a pretty great downloadable library. Just for fun i'll compare my top 5 3DS downloads to the top 5 vita downloads

3DS:

Pushmo
Colors 3D
VVVVVV
Mutant Mudds
Mighty Switch Force

Vita:

Mutant Blobs Attack
sound Shapes
super Stardust Delta
Retro City Rampage
Wipeout

Id say that both of em have a pretty high quality eShop but 3DS has more (i can name another 5 games that could go on that list while I could maybe name one more for the vita list)

I'm only talking about launch year. I'd have to take Mutant Mudds and Colour 3D from you're list. There a few more PSV titles you couldn've mentioned

plants vs Zombie, Puddle, Escape plan, Motostorm RC and all the games on PS mobile, I think Vita has the edge on this one.

Overall, the 3DS crushes the Vita.

But with those 5 you choose... the 3DS crushed the Vita. (Not really crushed, but did beat it.)

@teigaga:

Mutant Mudds can stay and Colors 3D is only a few days out...im looking at the North American release date.Even still, replace em with Sakura Samurai and Zen Pinball if you want

Like I said, its pretty much a toss up. With the addition of Virtual Console and 3D classics, 3DS dominates

Nintendo has some rock solid IPs that are always going to be sure to rake in sales. Their pedigree in the gaming industry is just too powerful. This is not to say though that Sony has not put out a comparable(and depending on the gamer, better) assortment of games available in the portable space.

LBP Vita > NEW Super Mario Bros 2/Super Mario 3D Land by like a mile with what is capable in that game, although with all this media hate mongering you wouldn't even know. LBP Vita is admittably the BEST in the series yet some how is the lowest rated(both LBP1 and 2 hold a 9+ on Meta).....what?! It fits the console like a glove, I personally just always felt platformers worked best on Handheld due to their naturally portable nature, makes no sense to me. And most of the spin-off games for Vita like Uncharted are tailored with portability in mind too. U:GA missions are much shorter, and concentrate on exploring and puzzle solving a bit more than normal. Gyroscope aiming also works like a dream in that game. Super Stardust is an addiction for me and their are a plethera of game modes and tasks to complete, plus custome soundtracks with it make it so much fun.

And Remakes like Persona 4:Golden are an insta sell for me, I loved that game and have no qualms with picking it up again with extra goodies seeing as it was so good the first time around. I would put Persona 4 as my second favorite RPG of all time, so this is probably a given. I imagine it is the same for those with Zelda Orcarina of Time 3D and MGS3 on 3DS.

Do I want games like Bravely Default and Pokemon? Damn right I do, but I figure I would go with the handheld with many series I cherrish more, and just hope for a port or similar game to come for it later down the line.

In the same time frame, Sony has put out a stellar line-up of games which you can take a peek at here for reference...

This holiday alone is just ridiculous. But Vita "Haez No Gaemz!" according to media :/
