Forums - General - How would be your life now if you would not have ever started gaming?

So guys recently i started to think about how my life would be now if i would never have started gaming, so i am not quite satisfied with my life right now honestly but is it right to blame gaming for this? i mean like with all that time i spent on gaming i could of done something for school or spent more time at the gym or be more social..., and how much money would i have now with all that money that i spent on gaming? but enough from me, how do you think about this? how would your life be like now without gaming? Better or worse?

I know what you're feeling. I play video games every day in my down time and I used to get this feeling sometimes that I was being unproductive and that I could be doing more with my free time... So I stopped playing video games and subsequently realized I wasn't doing anything more productive with my time anyways.

That being said, do leave time for other activities like working out!

If you handn't started gaming you would have wasted time on something else. Like watching TV, reading books. It's all entertainment, people substitue it with whatever they like.

Don't think you would have been more productive with the time, just that you would have wasted it on something else, thats what I would have done atleast. I am a lazy person and I'm not ashamed of it :)

so.. it would be the same, only I would have done something else pointless :P

but i am also talking about how your personality would be like now, for example me: the media has a huge inpact in the evolotion of my personality i ask my self also would i be a more happier or a thug? or a more serious person? more mature? is it just me or...?

Probably have a job that uses my degree, married and have kids. The last two make me glad that I chose gaming.

You are over-thinking it mate.
You wouldn't have been a thug, cause you are a gamer, you are better than that.

Gamers generally (if you aren't a COD zombie... trollololol *insert more narrow-minded biased comment here*) are able to think, therefore we don't do stupid shit other people think about doing (and do).
You would have been the same, just less fun.. unless you drink beer, and mayo.. its good for you...

what were we discussing again?..

To answer your second question I think my personality would have been the same. I didn't start gaming until I was 14 and I was really introvert to begin with, so games didn't change that for me at least.

I've been going away from games a little bit, I now go to the gym instead of playing games. I now usually play them only at night after school or work or during vacations, but maybe that's because I'm getting older.

On a serious note, why wouldn't that work out? what does that have to do with beeing a gamer and spending your free time playing games?

no i meant it like this: for example one of my friend quited gaming a year ago because he though he is now too mature for that (lol he wasnt) so i havent heard from him for a while and didnt saw him on xbox live for a while too then i saw him at a friends house recently and he changed dramasticly, he stared smoking and drinking alcohol,he styles himself like one of those `swag` monkeys nowdays and he spent a lot of money for shoes and clothes, he has a girlfriend now and he isnt a virging anymore. You also should know that i am now 17 and never ever in my life did i smoke or drank alcohol or had sex (except with myself lol) and that is kind of very unusall for a teenager nowdays so i feel like i missed a lot of stuff in my teenage time, thats what iam talking about ;)

Job part is mainly my fault (with video games not really being a factor) and the very difficult situation of trying to get a parks job (Wildlife Management degree) with 1000s of other people applying for the same job.  Plus, I only did one internship while I was in college so my experience in the field I went to college is basically nothing.

Being a gamer is the reason why I found myself in a on and off relationship with my roommate.  We both worked at a manufacturing plant a few years back and I started talking to her due to her being nice.  I then brought up that I liked to play video games still and that I had a Wii.  She laughed at me at first stating that she hasn't played any video games for a very long time.  I then asked her if she ever tried the Wii considering it was easier for non gamers to actually play (Wii Sports).  So after a few invites to play on my Wii we started messing around.  First it was just high fives after she got a spare or strike then it progressed to hugs.  Fast forward a little and if it wasn't for video games then I wouldn't be in my current situation.  I thought she was around the age of 35+ or so and I didn't get her true age till after we started messing around.  Turns out she was in her low 40s (hard to tell cause she is Vietnamese) and due to her age I haven't had to worry about pregnancy (she is now 46).  So if I was with a younger person I probably would have a kid by now but due to my circumstances I find myself in a relationship with someone that probably won't be able to have kids.  So gaming perhaps saved me from having kids at this point in time (I don't want any for a few more years still).
