If you handn't started gaming you would have wasted time on something else. Like watching TV, reading books. It's all entertainment, people substitue it with whatever they like.
Don't think you would have been more productive with the time, just that you would have wasted it on something else, thats what I would have done atleast. I am a lazy person and I'm not ashamed of it :)
so.. it would be the same, only I would have done something else pointless :P
