How much will this help holiday sales ?

Around the Network

It will help, I think - but we're still going to be a long way off traditional Wii holiday sales

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
Not much, but will help get it to the magical 100m. Nintendo doesn't want to steal its own new console's thunder with the Wii, at least I THINK so.
Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD
It is more than likely that the Wii U will steal most, if not all of, the Wii's thunder this holiday season. Its going to have a decent season but 50% down yoy is the best case scenario in my opinion, even with a price cut in the US.
It was heavily down last year, even with good bundles, colors and no heir looming on the horizon.
Hopefully this cut will be passed on to other regions. If so 100 million will be achieved this year.
It almost now guarantees it will sell more than Vita, imo.
So, the answer to your question is: not much.
It's strange cause in Japan it doesn't look like it'll get a price cut, and Wii is still 20.000 yen (it didn't get the $149 price cut as US/Europe last year). I think this time they'll drop the price a little bit. Or maybe not, not to steal Wii U or 3DS yens.
$129.99 isn't bad, but $99 is better.
I think the price cut helps Wii more than 360 in comparison, simply b/c there are more fiscal people out there than we'd like to think about.  Entry level gaming for the youngins, as well as  consolation for some of those who can't get a Wii U.  With some parents trying to pull a fast one, you can imagine the sad kid faces out there, disappointed in getting a Wii instead of Wii U lol
This move should get Wii over a 100 mil WW.
I honestly think these price cuts are strange. Retailers put their own prices on consoles, often offering price cuts anyway before an official price cut is ever announced. The Wii has been £79 for a Mario & Sonic Olympics pack in places like Asda long ago. It's especially strange seing as how it was $99 at one point nad has gone up and back down since.
$130, but what holiday deal will there be? Last year saw $120 Wiis with Mario Kart available at stores.
