Forums - Nintendo - Activision Says Wii U Version Of Black Ops 2 Not Natively 1080P

When I got my 24" monitor in 2009, none of my friends or relatives had a bigger one than 21". In fact most only had a 18" or 19".
Now in 2012 only my brother has a bigger one (27") that can actually display more than 1080p or 1200p for that matter.

the trends for hc pc gaming now is:

1. get ssd

2. get monitor that support 1440p+ and/or tripple screen

yes most non gamer enthusiastic wont have it in the near future.

but if a real hardcore gamers monitor die right now and they have the money they simply wont buy a 19" 1280x1024 monitor anymore ...

It's hard to know what to believe until the game is finished.

I have read Activision said that the game is Full HD, Full HD 1080p and now this. I however think this report is more realistic even if it turns out to be faked.

Another thing is just because Activision isn't doing the game in full 1080p doesn't mean that the system is not capable of it with this type of game.
New consoles always take time to bed in.

Who cares? The Wii U still wont be the system of choice for this game.

Not unexpected as they would be porting over most likely the 360 version to WiiU.

Also the term FullHD does mean 1080p native in some countries as that is the sticker they use on TVs to identify that your tv is 1080p native ready. So this was either marketing by Activision or bad use of the term.

In my county there are two terms: FullHD (1080p native) and HD Ready (up to 1080i native).

yep those are the exact same terms here.

wait ... which countries dont use this term ?

no idea, but it is opbvious some people in this thread seem to think there is a difference between FullHD and Native, so guessing the countries they are from.

No youve got it wrong. I am from a contry that uses the terms posted here.

However this term is used to state what a TV will play.

It does not mean the source its using to display the Full HD 1080p image is 1080p also.

As long as  a gam or movie can be displayed via upscaleing at 1080p it can have the 1080p display simble on the box.

Do not however think it means its original native resolution was 1080p.

Not really. How many monitors support 1440p or higher ? Not many.
Heck not even everyone has a 16:10 monitor just like mine with a 1200p resolution.

remember the times where people only had crt's and said who the heck has a hd tv ...

it will change dramticly in the next few years. And those I know 90% have 1440p+

last time I went to a LAN party (300 people) around 70% had 1440p+

just check the september poll of steam and you will see that maybe 5% of all steam users have above 1080p and most of them only have 1200p and not 1440p or above.

steam has 40mio+ users ?

5% still 2mio+ users ... not that few, and it will grow as the older monitors will die someday ...

edit:

but yes fewer than I expected ... I think the numbers will take off if future consoles will support those resolutions. If not it wont rise like 1080p

sure but still excactly the opposite of what you said... now you went from "most pc gamers using 2560x1440 nowadays" to "5% above 1080p which a big part is 1200p is still a lot"

€dit: sry did quote you before your edit^^

just edited after your quote ...

I should say 'most enthusiastic hardcore pc gamer' would fit better ... not counting the causual gamers because they will stay 1080p and less for many more years.

but this will change if newer consoles with those resolution comes out or a bluray2 maybe. We will see it maybe not in the next 2 years like 1080p but I'm pretty sure in the next 4 years. the changes has just begun.

You forget the multi-display resolutions (all above 1080p) is tracked by a different category in Steam.

And there a lot of guys with multi-display.

i know you edited, that's what i edited in my post haha^^
