the trends for hc pc gaming now is:

1. get ssd

2. get monitor that support 1440p+ and/or tripple screen

 

yes most non gamer enthusiastic wont have it in the near future.

but if a real hardcore gamers monitor die right now and they have the money they simply wont buy a 19" 1280x1024 monitor anymore ...
