Right, a far better pitch. But also a risk of overpromising. I've read several articles of how unrealistically ambitious this project is and that it's almost guaranteed to disappoint in the end.

I really want it to succeed though.

An indie game with a $14 million budget ($4 mill crowdfunding + $10 million from risk capitalists) over two years of development is truly exciting!

Well the plan is to keep updating the game past launch, they likely won't manage to deliver everything at launch. But if it's a success it should continue to evolve long after launch.

Yes, but the articles on Penny Arcade and whatnot said that Chris Roberts promises so much on so many areas where he and his studio lacks the expertise and experience, and that this game is pretty much the most ambitious game project presented of all time (they compared to Molyneux' failed promises) and that even an experienced sudio with a far bigger budget than $14 million would not be able to deliver on all the promises.

They basically painted him as delirious. Although in a loving way, they all obviously wants him to succeed. I think everyone does.

I'm definitely gonna support this game if it's good (meaning that for once I'm not gonna pirate a PC game). I'm very hyped about this, Elite and Sui Generis. (Especially Sui Generis! Just wow.)

I doubt they will live up to all the promises to be honest. But even if they don't reach the moon it will be a hell of a journey. What they have already is pretty impressive, the detail in the stuff they have designed an built is already insane. It kinda helps that it is a space game tho, basically enviroments outside of the ships are just skyboxes there is a lot less level design and assets they have to build compaired to other genres. And making it PC exclusive they can cut a lot of costs ascociated with AAA multiplatform development.

Oh my god... I thought it would barely reach over $4MM, but now it is at $5.3MM. This is insane. I never thought we'd hit the $5MM mark and get the voice acting.

I feel really uneasy that he's over-promising, but man i really want this game to turn out as amazing as he hopes it to...

And I thought that Project Eternity would have held the title for highest grossing crowd funding campaign for a game for a lot longer.

look at the speed it's going the last few hours.. now at 5.48 million

now it's even closing in rapidly on US$6million and will likely end up above that mark as well, simply amazing - I did expect a good rally till the end, but that was just ridiculous :)

The site is nearly crashing (and takes quite a while) to load any pages. I'm not browsing it anymore until the crowdfunding is over, as I don't want to lock out any more potential donators.

It's going to hit $6MM, though, that much I'm sure. It's perfectly skating to hit that mark right before the funding ends. (Or maybe it already hit the mark as I typed this...)

Simply insane.

^ ~$65k to go the last time I checked, but as it's gaining several thousands a minute right now it will hit $6m very soon
