Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Price Gouging at a High

You get 2 for $1499, so you can sell the other one for $2000 on ebay and make profit.

Anyway just wait a couple of months. Why is that so hard? There's plenty to play in the holiday season, you've waited until now, a few more months is not going to ruin your life. I don't get why people will pay extra.

I think that's $1500 just for one. Look how there's 2 consoles available but the quantity is only 1.

For one side, this kind of abuses disgust me.

But on the other side, this a console, a luxury item not a basic necessity, so if there's someone willing to pay that much for it, they deserve to be scammed.

Please excuse my bad English.

If I couldn't pre-order I would probably wait until the new year to pick one up, but I can understand how a few people would be willing to pay such high prices for a system ...

If you're earning enough money and have low enough expenses the difference in spending $349 and $600 on a console is not that significant, and for someone who really wants to get their kids the "Best Christmas Gift Ever!" I could understand them spending the extra money.

indeed. i mean, that's the reason many people got rich, selling other rich people stuff for super high prices, if it's furniture, art or whatever. if "rich" people want something they can only get from few persons at the moment they want it (and not months later), they are willing to pay much for it.

I wouldn't say that these people are necessarily "rich" ...

For the top 80% of American families they could afford to spend this on a Christmas gift for the whole family if they were motivated enough. Of course the average American family wouldn't be interested, but if only 2.5% of these American households would consider spending that much more for a system and 2.5% of those were interested in the Wii U, there would still be 50,000 systems sold above retail.

It will be pulled. I had just listed my extra Wii U pre-order yesterday and it was pulled by Ebay as its shipping day is more than 30days away. I'll re-list in a few days.

However, they have been selling (Deluxe sets) for ~$520. I'm trying to sell it for up to $850, making my own Wii U a free item. However, I'll be happy for selling it anywhere above $450 as that is the breaking even point for the console when selling via Ebay.

1500 bucks???? Glad I got 2 :)

I'm planning on putting mine up the monday after black friday. I believe this is when demand will be the highest, and thus the prices highest.

PS3 crosses $10,000 barrier on eBay

Bids for the coveted PlayStation 3 consoles have skyrocketed to three and four times their purchase prices.

 November 17, 2006 3:25 PM PST

Whatever you want to call them (opportunists, price gougers, geniuses), the slew of sellers auctioning those PS3 consoles they waited in line for could soon be laughing maniacally all the way to the bank.

(Credit: discounts-from-philly )

We reported earlier that bids for Sony PS3s hadreached $9,000 this morning. By Friday afternoon bidding on eBay had jumped over $10,000 for a new, unopened 60GB unit. (Thanks to Evan J. for the tip.)

One entrepreneurial young man, asking $16,000, pleads on his seller's page, "FREE OVERNIGHT!!!! Help fund my college education!" The accompanying grainy photo of him holding his receipt and PS3 is slightly reminiscent of those ransom videos where a kidnap victim is forced to hold that day's newspaper to prove he or she is still alive. But despite the creepiness factor, we can't fault "discounts-from-philly"'s desperation for higher education. But we can if he just uses the money to get bigger tires and a paint job for his truck.

Yes it did. It was only for the launch holiday season and was overshadowed by Wii.
