They are a completely different set of people. People considering a cheap and established console with access to hundreds of cheap games from a massive past library are not the same people paying over the odds for a brand new console with bugger all software (relatively). I cant believe you think they cross over, they simply dont. I'm buying a WiiU, I have owned all 3 consoles and even I had to think hard about it before I decided to. The 360 and PS3 will sell less this year, very little to do with wiiU though. The Wii will sell even worse. |
Because you had to think hard before buying Wii U all other PS360 users will think hard too?
I think you will surprised by the relatively low PS360 sales this christmas. Many PS360 users want already something new.
But this discussion is useless now. After this christmas you will see that I was right anyway.
If the Wii doesn't get any pricecut for the 2013 fiscal year, that puts it in the 99$ range, then it may happen yes.
With such a price cut the Wii can still manage to move more 15 million units or maybe a little bit less.

Looks like a lot of readers here are smoking some good shit.
I'd say NA is definite while Europe is anywhere around 50-70%. The unpredictable Wii U effect will be interesting to follow.
It will be interesting to see if the release of the wii u slows the sales of the HD twins at all. I figure it will but I have no idea how much impact it could have.

Wii is close to irrelevancy now so I think it's quite likely that it'll be surpassed by PS3 eventually. Then we have NA where it seems even clearer X360 will surpass Wii.
Wouldn't that be something? A no.1 console WW being outsold in most regions by some other console. It just so happens that Wii was the most consistent, against the wild variations between PS3 and X360 region to region. This also seemed impossible three years ago. This gen has been like a rollercoaster compared to previous ones. |
No they will not surpass the wii worldwide. Sure they are selling ok now but not at a rate that will pass the wii. And if they announce new consoles next year sales will take a plunge. And the wii u is selling out worldwide. That will take some sales away from ps3/360. So no.

I didn't say anything about worldwide.

Same thing applies to regions. Now spin that.

Don't take this stuff so seriously dude, reacting like that just makes you look like a little child. You can't accept even the mildest, most observational and inoffensive negativity against your console of choice? Geez...
And how's correcting your incorrect statement spinning? You misread the thread, man.
Anyway, we'll see, but it's pretty much guaranteed that at least in NA the Wii will be surpassed.

Maybe in North America. Japan is very unlikely, as well as Europe. 5.8 million is much, and the Wii did not stopped selling there. Last year, PS3 sold 5.7m and Wii sold 4.1m. With an annual difference of these, it would take four years for the PS3 beat the Wii. but until then the PS4 will have already been released ...
We need moar Zelda, now!
We need moar Unchartedzz!
We need less DLCs.
