Have the tariff prices changed for importing electronics into Australia?

nope, we were just getting ripped off as usual.

The pirce shere are some what legacy from the old days when our dollar wa sonly worth 0.5 USD. People are jsut use to them.

Many have complained, expecially about video games costs $99-$120. There is some consumer investigation in relation to this.

Most retailers however kind of dropped the magic number for games to say $89. However more popular games still stay above $100. I hope this investigation forces lowevered prices considering I cna import the same games from UK for 50%-70% odf retail price here. I would be happy if new retail games where max $79, that way the convenience of buying locally outways saving a few bux and waiitng 14-21days for the game to arrive.

Yeah. The prices you guys pay down there for games is ridiculous. Especially when you consider that I wait a few months to buy a game and pay between $10 - $30 USD for a game.

If Microsoft were smart they would drop the price in NA as well. A price setup like this would be optimal.

4GB -- $129ish

4GB/Kinect -- $199ish

250GB -- $199ish

250GB/Kinect $299

Now is the perfect time to drop the price of their console and then advertise like they never have before because they're making plenty of profit off of the 360 currently (and they probably still would even with the above prices) and now is the time to market the Xbox brand so they can really get a buzz going for next generation.

That would be like giving away them for free. Like they do in Europe.

I don't know. I might not like a price drop. I think it's cocky by MS to keep the price high at $300 for a X360, cocky in a cool way.

They do?

haha yer. When I went to the US i bought many DS games at those prices. The guy at the game store was shocked I was buying so many lol.

Ironically the ones I have tried in my 3ds appear to work. I thought 3DS was region locked?

I also got GTA IV PS3 uncut version (well for aussies it was uncut haha)

3ds games are region locked. You can play ds games from other regions.

A lot of old games, but good ones. So good value I think for intro person.

yeah saw that on mydealz and it is "cold" because the guy who posted that forgot to mention which games first^^  (that's funny because even without games it would be not bad)

I believe the the sudden price drop here was purely to combat the new PS3 Super Slim hence why there is only a $50 drop on the 4GB model, but $150 on the 250GB model. For whatever reason, some retailers have been advertising the 500GB PS3 Super Slim for just $299. No idea if they realize that's about how much it costs in America.

Prices are certainly improving in this country. The Wii U is just $350 instead of $400 like the Wii was.
