Wii U is getting 23 games at launch. Feel free to divide them into "Casual" and "Core" games and we'll see how many there are of each.

Well then he shouldn't buy anything but peanut butter, ramen, and bread.

That's what I was going to say... thanks a lot Amp!

Since money is an issue getting the Wii is a good idea, but if he didn't mind spend more the Wii U is better since you can play both Wii games and Wii U games on it.

For a girl... I bolded those that matter. Don't get me wrong, they're all good, but this competition with the Wii was not there when the Wii came out. The Wii has countless games for it now, it's a no-brainer for casuals.

@Pie. Amp was kidding. Some people are hard on cash, but they still want their daughters to be happy. Pat yourself a few times on the back bro.

Tell him to buy a Wii U. Tell him to save up for it and give it to her for Christmas.

I was going to tell him the same thing. I would add that all those games on the list with the exception of NintyLand has a cheaper equivalent on the Wii.

Considering how many people are taking this seriously, I'm not convinced that this person with a daughter actually exists. This thread feels like a roundabout way of dolphin pointing out a problem Wii U will have.

That said, almost every console has this problem. Didn't the 360 have to compete with cheaper "core" content available for previous gen consoles, including its predecessor? Did't PS3 have to compete with cheaper "core" content available for previous gen consoles and 360? Aren't the 3DS and Vita RIGHT NOW competing with the cheaper content available for their predecessors?

Everyone, including this possibly hypothetical father, won't buy into Wii U immediately. Some people aren't so well-off, and like to wait a few years to buy tech when it's cheaper. This isn't a problem, it's a natural part of launching a new console.

If the guy is real, tell him to go ahead and get the Wii. He'll save a lot of money and his daughter will be happy (and probably won't know the difference).
