Forums - Nintendo - New Nintendo Direct Europe - Nothing big, but if you always wanted a Pikachu 3DS XL, it was perfect for you

Wow, this ND added two more games to my 3DS games wishlist (Virtue's Last Reward, Crimson Shroud).

The surprise announcement of the Euopean VLR release sealed the deal:
With Ocarina of Time, Tales of Abyss, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Virtue's Last Reward, Crimson Shroud, Theatrhythm, Pullblox/Fallblox, Epic Mickey and Paper Mario all either already available or available by the end of the year, I have no other choice: I'll get a blue 3DS XL.

BTW - here's an import review of Guild 01 (Liberation Maiden, Virtue's Last Reward, Crimson Shroud):

Well first of all, welcome to the doomsquad :P

And second, that review made me laugh:

"Perhaps the weirdest thing is that this is a package at all: we'd rather Level-5 had assembled these diverse creators for a series of individual download games via the eShop rather than squishing them higgledy-piggledy into an incoherent collection."

Thats that. They also say that Liberation Maiden is the best game in this collection.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Anyway I can see this after having missed it live streamed?

The direct is already available in the european e-shop, you can rewatch it there if you want. Or some of the trailers alone.

With Layton, Paper Mario and the others this is actually a pretty damn decent holiday lineup. People forget New Super Mario Bros. 2, this game has just been out and will be on the forefront this holiday.

Nay, there be great sales.

Oh, no doubt there will be great sales, imo. Holidays are good for Nintendo systems. But one more game here (like Luigi's Mansion or Animal Crossng) and it would be not barely better, but 300% better.

Sometimes you just need a detail to improve a lot. But Pokémon will help a lot, 30-60 hours, here we go.

True, true, I myself most likely won't be buying a 3DS game this christmas, I'm waiting for Luigi's Mansion (desperately). Maybe there'll be an eShop title or two in it for me, but that'll be it. Gonna be WiiU this holiday for me!

But Vic
you have to look at the big picture
with NSMB2 + all the new little games announced holidays are going to be good, but the important thing is to keep that holiday momentum on non holiday season
thats were Luigis and MH3U take the scene, just to keep the sales up on slow months, pretty much like they just have done with NSMB2 releasing it in summertime

By the way your avatar is now godly :D

I already knew I'd most probably get a 3DS a long time ago as the DS was by far my favorite system last gen (I bought more than 100 DS games). I even bought Ocarina of Time 3DS and Tales of the Abyss without even owning a 3DS. Deal breaker up to now: 3DS region-locking in contrast to DS (more than 10 of my DS games are JRPG imports which were released in NA but not in PAL region, plus 999 - the predecessor of Virtue's Last Reward). Today's PAL announcements of VLR and Guild 01 games convinced me to get a 3DS. I think/hope the release of these niche titles means that region-locking won't be an issue in the future.

They will need a huge push in the West soon. Time to stop playing around. Not sure what their strategy is, but I am sure they have one. .

Based on what?

Just finished watching the ND, it was really good. A lot of niche games and eShop games. I'm going to download that Suda51 game right now. Also more full retail games are available for download... at £40 each >_<
I can see that Yellow Pikachu and White 3DS XL selling really well over the holidays. And I'm glad Paper Mario is coming out this year.
