Forums - Nintendo - Name the big features and changes you want for mainline Pokemon 3DS

Sorry hacks or exploits, I don't support em.

Why should I have to hack or use exploits to stay competative?  Its a broken system.

I was thinking about this just yesterday actually. Id quite like to change the battle xp system slightly so that you gain experience as the battle happens (like after every turn), meaning that pokemon could learn new moves or evolve during a battle to make it more like the tv series, instead of waiting till the battle is over.

Every time I start thinking about how the Pokémon games can evolve going forward, I inevitably come upon the bolded phrase within my own thoughts, and I promptly punch myself in the face. And trust me, it happens a lot. Evolution during battle seems very dramatic and stuff, but applying it to the actual game would be a nightmare. Nothing should be changed about these games solely for the sake of making them more like the animé -- if anything, it's the other way around.

Otherwise we'll wind up asking GameFreak to find a way to implement Aiming for the Horn into the games.

Specifically, I cought myself thinking earlier about how cool it would be to actually have to compete in a tournament and win at the end of the game before being allowed to battle the Elite 4. Then I realized that the only reason I wanted that was because it's how the animé does things, and that it would be kind of dumb if the game actually worked that way.

You do realise you aren't doing anything wrong? It's part of the game and you aren't hacking anything.

Pretty much every competitive player I know both online and those who participate in the pokemon VGCs use RNG bred pokemon. While hacked pokemon are automatically caught out and disqualified from the official tournaments when they check your carts, RNG bred pokemon are fully legal and widely used. This is because you are breeding naturally, only that you are able to take the random aspect out of it by reading the game's code. So you're getting something you could have gotten randomly, only now it didn't take as long.

Yes maybe if they made it easier it may have been nicer, but it is how it is until they change things. The point is that it is part of the competitive scene and not that hard to do. Kind of similar to how in the competitive fighting scene people just read the game's code to figure out number of frames for moves, etc which helps in performing the right counters or combos to punish opponents. There is nothing wrong with that either, but that sort of in depth information isn't given out by the game outright most of the time, but developers embrace it.

-I would actually like to see a tournament system of Pokemon League ala the anime implemented in the games and before you can challenge the elite four and eventually champion, you would have to win.

-I love the sprite art in the games, but it's time for a shift to 3D. A world in the style of XD (Though a little more detailed/compact) and Pokedex 3D models.

-Two regions per game. I don't care how small the second one is. It can be like the Sevii Islands, just give me a lot of post-game stuff to do (Doesn't have to be a seperate region if the region itself is big enough; Battle Frontier doesn't count here, plot-related post-game stuff).

-10-12 gyms per region.

-Boost the strength of some old pokemon (Farfetch'd, Butterfree, Ninetales) to make them more competitive.

-The removal of HMs. TMs are unlimited now, why have HMs be unforgettable instead of being just TMs?

-A Grass-Rock-Ice starting trio. Fire-Water-Grass is tradition, but it's worn out, if there's another Fire-Fighting starter line I'll cut somebody.

ACTUALLY MAKING A NEW POKEMON GAME!!! rather than milking the same game for the last 15 or so years.

I want freakin' 3D battles. I'm tired of the 2D stuff. You'd think they would've had 3D battles by now, but noooooo!

On top of that, the entire structure just needs to chance. It's been the same basic game since the Red/Blue days.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

you might well be right that it wouldnt be as dramatic as it seems in my head, and could well get confusing with pokemon health healing and the like. But i think at the very least id like to see pokemon evolve during battles once you have knocked out the opponents current pokemon as it annoys me when ive levelled up and have to beat another 3 or 4 pokemon before i can evolve my pokemon.

Prestige Level for Pokemon and killstreak perks.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

The next step in graphics is not 3D, pokemon look awful in 3D, instead:

-fully animated sprites that actually ''do'' the attacks just like if you were playing the anime.

-more deep breeding (and raising) system, where to make your pokemon stronger you don't have just to lvl up but also things like how much time he has spent with you and the friendship lvl are taken into consideration.

-full fledged pokemon contests for each city, of course that should lead to the grand festival.

- Either HD style sprites or cel shaded 3D models

- Improved online structure for multiplayer, doesn't have to be a lobby with legit interaction outside maybe those that know your friend code but a few more features that you can determine. Make it easier to battle, trade or whatever online will add to the game's replay value.

- Easier breeding, even if it is adding the ability to have 2 sets of potential parents breed at once, or using the 3DS to monitor actual physical steps the player takes to help hasten the actual egg hatching time instead of in game steps.

- Interesting SpotPass features
