The next step in graphics is not 3D, pokemon look awful in 3D, instead:
-fully animated sprites that actually ''do'' the attacks just like if you were playing the anime.
-more deep breeding (and raising) system, where to make your pokemon stronger you don't have just to lvl up but also things like how much time he has spent with you and the friendship lvl are taken into consideration.
-full fledged pokemon contests for each city, of course that should lead to the grand festival.
