Tech wise Lumia 920 beats Iphone 5. Camera, Display, charging etc.

OS is opinion. I prefer better facebook, twitter, email client etc intergration than what Iphone has with 5. It doesnt even match wp7.5 mango.

App dont worry me. Marketplace has now got equivalant or better in metro form of all of Iphones best apps. 

The iPhone definitely has the advantage in weight/size, CPU (no way is the Lumia going to beat the iPhone with a dual core Snapdragon S4 & 1GB of RAM), possibly (maybe even probably) battery life. Don't get me wrong, the Lumia looks to be a hell of a phone. I like what Nokia has been doing in the past 18 months with WP. You can argue that the iPhone display is just as good as the Lumia; it depends on what you want in a phone. For me, I don't really want a 4.5" phone (not a deal-breaker entirely, but I wouldn't go even 1/10th of an inch larger than that). Tech-wise, the two displays are a wash IMO.

But while the App Store might not be important to you, it's absolutely superior on the iPhone. The Windows Store and App Store aren't even close in comparison. If there's a good app in the Windows Store, there's about a 99% chance it's in the App Store. The reverse is not necessarily the case.


The majority of decent apps in the WP marketplace are made for the ground up for Metro. most ports from Iphone on WP pale in comparison to the wp only devs designing apps for metro. The apps that dont take advantage of metro seem old, unorganised and very unintuitive. Even if more of the best Ipone apps come over, I bet id stay wit the amazing metro only apps which do the same but better. Metro apps are really impressive. Hopefully with windows8 and wp8 more devs will design apps for metro. seeing as porting to wp8 from windows 8 is next to no extra work.

That's right, I hate apps that were not designed primarily for metro design they are old and lack features. Seriously iOS is old and people should stop using iOS for a reference as the best UI there is because it's simply not true. Apple needs a redesign and fast.

Again, not knocking the WP interface, I think it's the best thing on the market. I'm only saying that the App Store is far more populated than the Windows Store. Most devs still use iOS as their primary platform with Android and then WP as secondary applications (even if they change the UI to match each platform accordingly). While Android has largely closed the gap, Windows Phone still has a ways to go before they can compete with the App Store in both quantity and quality.

Personally, I hope they get there. I just purchased an iPhone 5 but was strongly considering WP before getting irritated that WP7 phones won't run WP8. I didn't want to wait any longer to get a new phone and it's frustrating that Microsoft is shaking up their mobile platform AGAIN. They need to be more consistent if they're ever going to gain traction in the mobile sphere. This "let's create a new platform every two years" strategy they've been using for a decade isn't exactly instilling consumer confidence. I expect better long-term planning from the most established software company on the planet.

Iphones are really really expensive here, >$700 without a contract or "free" with a 2 year contract x $70 monthly fee...
