Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U GPU Type CONFIRMED! Custom AMD E6760!

this chip would be a good step up from Xenos/RSX, but by todays graphic cards offerings it's low end

for comparison, the E6760 is almost the same as the GPU on the Radeon HD 6670: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/amd-radeon-hd-6000/hd-6670/Pages/amd-radeon-hd-6670-overview.aspx#2

both have 480stream processors but that one is clocked at 800MHz, so it does 768Gflops, while the E6760 (at 600MHz) does 576Gflops

the HD 6670 card is about as good as the HD 4850 in the comparison I found (it largely depends on the games used in those), but as I said the E6760 clocks 25% lower so expect it to be perform a bit less than that

I'll believe when someone rips a Wii U apart and shows the world.

So still far worse than the GPU I bought 3 years ago (4890)...
Hope it's not true.

All this chip talk is like a foreign language to me.

other rumors I heard about the WiiU GPU pointed to the 4870 or equivalent, which is better than the E6760, but obivously still a bit worse than the 4890

If that info is correct that means about 2x PS360. Which means (if projections are correct) 720/PS4 some 3-4x WiiU

576 Gflops...so not even an 8800 ultra? In fact more like the 8800GT? Nice nintendo...sadly you're 6 years too late to impress anyone with those specs.

It probably is if you consider the form factor of the Wii U - it's too small to be packing much power in any department unless it wants to sound like a tornado and be made entirely out of copper with a power brick the size of the new PS3.

Well, if you consider that a 48xx series gpu used DirectX10.1 and Shader Modal 4.0, and a 6760 type gpu uses DirectX 11 and Shader Modal 5 equvilent, I thinkthe visual results on screen will be far better than what the perfomance would suggest. Lowers number with better results. That is what Nintendo goes for usually.

So, its definitely not worse than the 4890 being it that is can produce graphical features that are beyond anything the 4890 can produce even with its lower numbered perfomance.

I wouldn't trust customer support to know that even if the email is real, but that level of performance is very plausible. I don't know why anyone expected an up-to-date GPU or a powerful one. Of course your 2-3 year old top end gaming PC is faster!
