I'm actually gonna wait for the first revision of the console for more internal hd, bundle deal, price drop, colors, a certain must have game, more battery life gamepad, etc. Don't need one right away till that happens since I can just use a friends in the mean time.

I ended up getting the white basic. I'm not big on DL games (Haven't DL anything to the Wii in roughly 2 years) though with GC games being available, that may change. If so, then the 8gigs of internal storage will fill up quickly (GC games were up to 1.5 gigs right?) We all know Wii U will support SD cards up to 64GB and external HDD of any size. I hope we can access and play files right off the added storage, and not be forced to move games and files to the system and back.

At any rate, I think I'm going to go the SD route for the Wii U and buy a 64GB SD card. To those future Wii U owners, what are your plans? Any benefits over SD card vs an external HDD other than space? I'm under the assumption and SD card will access files faster, and less prone to failure than the HDD.

Primarily its my understanding that flash memory only has so many read/writes available, yes newer technology has increased the number tremendously, and I think its plenty viable, but you get more bang for your buck in this instance out of an external hard drive, I have several, one is a 1TB WD, no requirement for an external power adapter, I may use that, or a 2TB, I also may just buy a 3TB (depending on my options at the time) just for the Wii U

It took the Wii over 3 years to get its first price drop.  Do you want to wait that long?

I'll be getting at least 200GB of storage due to the fact that I'll be downloading almost every retail game that comes out.

Didn't say all those conditions needed to be met, like one or two of them. At minimum I see a retailer adding a free game 2013 Black Friday to make it worth it to me.

Yeah, I'm concerned about the data management issues that Nintendo might impose on add-on storage as well. Ever try to move your Mario Kart save file to another Wii? You can't. Just can't. I don't want to have to dig around in clunky sub-menus to launch a game or otherwise jump through hoops.

I'll start with the 32GB model and consider adding storage when I see how Nintendo organizes (or doesn't organize) additional storage.

It would be better to get a usb HDD. They are far cheaper on a per GB basis that an SD card. You can get a 1TB for probably around $60. You never really know what you will end up needing.

I really want a white Wii U (looks better in my opinion), but the lack of memory and Nintendo Land forces me to buy the black version... Damn it, Nintendo! :(

Not sure if I'll need additional memory on top of the 32 gigs though. I still have most of my Gamecube games, so I'll only need to download a few (maybe two or three) of those.

That was an issue that Nintendo failed to address because any game that can be played online could not have their save file moved.  All save filed for offline games could be moved no problem.

But that's been addressed since the 3DS so no problems here.

I think i will get a 64 G sd card.. will not have any more moving parts.. (and more noise and heat) if thats not enugh.. i will bye a 64 G sd more..

But it all depends.. if i can play my mp4 and avi movies from hd, i will just use one of my usb HD..

An other thing.. does anybody knows, if we can tranfer the wii ware demos to wii u..?
