re-invigorate?

I lol'd
I think the negative feed back loop the vita has been getting in blogs, forums, developers (pretty much Japanese/western abandonment outside konami, namco, ubisoft and EA) and other media sources pretty much doomed the vita, which in itself is pretty sad. As a Vita owner I am looking forward to many games coming (especially phantasy star online 2) but know that the system has a scarlet letter and outside Sony bringing content not to really expect anything else. I don't even bother with the bashers anymore, its not really worth it.
A couple things the vita can do to improve is for future iterations:
Do away with prior handhelds
Streamline their OS
A redesign, try to find a way to make the device secure without the use of proprietary items
A price cut, we now know that future handhelds cannot be priced more than 200 dollars
Ask 3rd parties what want in their handhelds outside Nintendo.
Advertising, try to cut above the naysayers and doomers.
The system was going to have a hard time because of the psp issues and I believe they overcompensated, its a awesome piece of hardware none-the-less.

Only if you take off the PS logo under the left stick.
Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever
Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

To be clear, I am not proclaiming the doom of the vita, but to have been out in America since February, and to not have sold 1 million units yet is honestly shocking to me. I was hoping for some off the wall ideas, and here are some of mine.
-Final Fantasy 7 HD
Why waste the sales of this on PS3? This thing would move millions of units and would be reason alone for me to go pick up a Vita. Sony needs to just start throwing money and devs at Square until they say yes.
-Crash Bandicoot Style advertising
Don't know how many of you are old enough to remember this, but a Crash Mascot went to Nintendo Headquarters and yelled random things at them from the street, basically painting the N64 as "for kids only" and the PS as the "cool" console. While this probably won't sway the older set, it may help take the teens and tweens attention.
-Bundle it as a subscription service device (a la iphone)
You could reduce the device cost by still wringing cash out of people by having them sign up for several years of a more premium version of PS+. This idea came to me before I fully understood what was included in PS+, don't know what you could add to justify a price increase to the service, since if you wanted to drop Vita to a $150 upfront cost with several years of PS+ you would probably need subscribers to pay more than $50 a year to make up the difference.

No you can't do that... when MS did this with the 360 and live (how did that ended?) Sony fans were making fun out of it... If Sony would do this many Sony fans will be killed in the backfire from MS fans..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
You make a good point, but I doubt that Sony would take fanboy flaming into account. Perhaps bundling several digital services with their 3G would have been better, like buy this and get 2 years Netflix Instant or something. I don't know, in my mind its going to take a lot of good advertising and AAA titles to turn the fortunes in the US. Friends I have talked to think that Vita never got released, that it was cancelled, this isn't good. Sony, more than anything, needs to change the perception that this thing is dead, how they do that, I don't know, but hopefully it involves a price cut because I want one, just not at full price.
I think the problem is that the Nintendo brand is too well known as a handheld and the 3DS library is currently too strong for the vita to compete with even looking down the future line ups in both causal and core gaming. They also had a very basic design flaw with their proprietary memory cards not even included in the basic package on top of the high premium you must pay for them. Not only do they need to cut the price on everything, they also need true killer apps unique to the Vita that would spark the buyers' interest, and cod is not one of them, loosing monster hunter to Nintendo really hurt them bad, and they can't cater to the causal very well either. It's kind of hopeless IMO when you look at the global vita situation as the sales aren't even matching up to the psp's year by year ratio.
