You need either to jailbreak your phone or to download apps to do that for you. Because as you buy it, you can't change shit on iphone. Unless  changing all that is a revolutionary new feature of iOS 6, lmao.

Now you said you don't want the hassle to costumize on android, but yet you don't mind doing so on a iphone through a much more complicated process.

I'm heading back to iOS because of its simplicity of use. I want my phone to run apps (App Store is tops there), I want my phone to get updates (iOS tops there as well), and I want the thing to run without hiccups (Android *can* be good here, depending on phone/skin). I had a pretty lousy experience with an HTC Inspire and if I go back to Android, it will be on a Nexus device. Stock Android is pretty great because it's super-stable and the Nexus devices are guaranteed updates. I just had no real reason to stick with Google because iOS offers pretty much everything I want in a phone.

For a phones, I go with android. Especially now that chrome is out for android. It's just a better browser than safari.

Everything else for phones comes down to integration and since I use gmail exclusively for my email, the gmail app on android wins over the one on iOS. I like the app navigation better on android as well. I hate how installing apps on iOS auto adds it to the wall.

In reality though, at this point, I consider iOS 6 and Android 4.x to be dead even.

For tablets I would go with iOS if it weren't for the fact that I love the nexus 7 over my iPad right now. When it comes to reading books, news, even watching movies (though I almost never watch movies on mobile devices) I just love the form factor and size. It just feels better to me. I no longer carry my iPad with me everywhere I go. My iPad is now pretty much used only for exclusive apps and apps that really work better with larger screens. I'm actually hoping next iPad goes larger, or at least changes form factor to more of a 16:9 or at least closer than it currently is which would make it more of a contender for media consumption.

The only real leg up iOS has right now compared to Android is airplay. But I don't use iTV so its a bit moot. Though I might have to break down and get one, or if they can get other set top makers to integrate with airplay it would make a good enough different I might start using my iPad more, or I might just go buy an iTouch. DLNA is just not there right now, android currently just does not have the capability to do what I think would be really cool if more screens/devices used these screen share capabilities.

Finally. I'm a programmer. So the non-consumer in me gravitates to android as it's been far easier for me to hack my android devices. I wouldn't even try to do that with my old iPad (i'll probably just gift it to my nieces).

Although I like iOS also, because of a great design, great support, updates! (LOL). It's just decent all round, although it seems a bit stale to me now with iOS 6

iOS and Android are quite simple compared to PC anyway, so simplicity doesn't really matter, it's just nice bonus really (I don't think Android is complicated)

Unless firmware is different from Portugal I'm missing something here. I have a friend with an iPhone 4S and he can't change shit. 

Now he is updating to the new firmware, but even so, not even the wallpaper could be moved, don't know what kind of sorcery is that, but costumization is not a strong feature on iDevices I reckon.

Weel unless your friend is using a dinossaur iOS (my first iPhone had iOS 3 or 4) I can confim these simple customization always exists.

I'm saying the Android have low level customization like to use the filesystem or change it... change the position of the buttons or the look/feel of the browser... in Android you can to almost everything with root user... I don't like that.

In iOS you can chage a lot of thing but the core.

Sounds to me like your friend doesn't really care about wallpaper. You can do it from the Settings app (not buried in menus, it's right there under its own Wallpaper section) or the Photos app (Share button > Use as Wallpaper). I'm talking iOS 5, which shipped on your friend's 4S, though I've been setting wallpaper in iOS for three years now. I'm pretty sure Apple doesn't gimp this feature just for people who speak Portuguese.

Woops, I kind of jumped the gun on the voting before I read the article. I voted Android but I should have voted for iOS for a consumer approach. The flow and control of the iOS if very natural and intuitive. Not that the Android isn't very easy to follow. User interface is one thing that Apple has always excelled at.
