Forums - Nintendo - How will Black Ops 2 sell on Wii U?

Predict its lifetime sales

Less than 1m 19 9.69%

1-2m 71 36.22%

2-3m 55 28.06%

3-4m 19 9.69%

4-5m 9 4.59%

More than 5m 23 11.73%

Total:196

I would guess around 2 million

Around the Network

I see 4m sold easily.

The ability to play co op on two screens sold me on the game. It will be my first own call of Duty game. Played Modern Warfare once at a friends place.

I think it can do 4 million, it's a big name and it's a launch game. It also has the dudebro monopoly on the Wii U for now.

I just realized that thinking about having Mario, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed and Monster Hunter on the same platform makes me wet my pants. Oh, and Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive title.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

1-2m.

1. It will release about half a month later than the other versions.
2. It's launching on a new console with no existing userbase
3. A new cod will come out next year to cut off its legs (assuming they release that on the Wii U as well).

The next one will do considerably better I think.

Was about what I was going to write up.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

it will probably get about a million in sales.. mainly because alot of people have a 360 and ps3 and they will most likely will buy the game on those systems.

Around the Network

Probably 3-4M

COD games are about multiplayer... people don't know how well will the nintendo network do in terms of lag, # people online, don't have trophies/achievements confirmed, friends will not jump in right now (and friends are important here)... many things may put people off... next year its the "COD on nintendo console is full sucess" not this year IMO...

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

About 2 million.

I'm also concerned about the absence of a 3DS CoD...

Hard to say really ...

With the Wii U being a new platform and with it will have a limited userbase to sell to, and with the launch line-up looking as strong as it does there will be quite a bit of competition for these gamers, but there aren't many FPS games and there are few "mature" games with as strong of an IP; so I wouldn't be surprised if it sold 1.5 million units by the end of 2012 and an additional 1.5 million units in 2013.

Install base matters, so lets assume 10-15 mil consoles sold until next yr. How many of those will be core gamers or those interested in COD? I think 1-2 mil is a fairly optimistic guess, any more would mean many PS360 fans migrated to the U.

I will add that there's many who are Nintendo fans primarily, that gave in and bought a PS360 (like myself) to get their HD console fix. It would be very interesting to know what % of those Ninty first fans make up of the 130+ mil PS360 userbase, and how many are ready to migrate to Wii U.
