What save data are you most concerned in saving?  Usually I either beat the game or fail to play it.  My backlog on all the VC / WW titles that I bought is pretty bad.  I wouldn't care if my save data was lost for most titles since I either beat the game or haven't played it.  Although I do see your point....  My friend and I did have some pretty "epic" battles on Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (SNES, VC) and we kept our record going.  Right now I am kicking his ass so much that it is perhaps a good thing we start over.

I wonder if it will move homebrew channel over too. LOL.

How far back does WiiU backwards Compatibilty go? Wii or Gamecube? Yes I have the special 2 disc edition of WW with OoT included. :) I buy Ninty consoles PRIMARILY for Zelda.

Compatibility goes to the Wii.  Wii U + Wii.  Backwards compatibility usually just goes one generation back.  Would be nice if they allowed GCN disc to read but I highly doubt they would even care to include it.

Not that the console is physically incapable of gamecube emulation. If it runs Wii Games, it can run gamecube games. Nintendo just chose NOT to support gamecube any longer.

So when we do the transfer are the games now locked to the Wii u, or can we still play them on the old Wii as-well.

What about an account system?

Shame, cause I spent a small fortune on VC/WW titles but my original Wii is dead and gone. Shame it's not just tied to my Nintendo Club account which records all the VC/WW titles I downloaded.
