i think the idea of not forcing you to pay for a big HDD is great
believe it or not theres people that dont need that much space....:P

I believe there is a durability factor in play here with it also.  Flash memory systems are more durable than going with a HDD.

Prices are reasonable, now we wait to see if Sony/MS reduce theirs in response.

Regardless, Nintendo needs to build some major hype between now and launch.

Price point is decent, but not so competitive it drives Microsoft and Sony to do anything.  It is also a price point that says it is the superior system.  Question is whether or not consumers will feel a pull to get one over the holidays.  The economy is in different situation from when the current generation hit.

I agree, MS/Sony could hold their prices (and might) but they havn't dropped prices in over a year so they (MS anyway) have the flexibility to do so if they want to cut into WiiU's sales.   However, there's not a lot of excitment (outside of forums like this) for WiiU so they may not feel the need.   Which is why it's interested to see if they do or not.  How much of a threat - if any - do they precieve WiiU to be?

I don't think WiiU has the same pull that Wii did to get people to make an immediate purchase.  It does have an outstanding launch line-up but then 360/PS3 have many of the same games...  Still, great line up of exclusives for those who make the purchase.

I think the 'fad' aspect will go to cheap Android gaming tablets/kids tablets this holiday, and that'll be WiiU's main competition.  However, only time will tell.

They sould bundle Pokemon black (VC game) with the white console and pokemon white (VC game) with the black console or something like that.

Would be perfect lol.

You could upgrade the PS3's hard drive easily as well. How is this better?

If you can, out of the box, plug an external HD to the PS3, it isn't better.

If you need your hard disk installed in your PS3 for it to work, then WiiU is better, as you can use your EHD for backup, music, games, demos and everything you need, using it on both your comp and your WiiU when needed (it's what I have).

Ultimately this leave the cost of the HD out of the SKU, which is what we all want, so it's a win either way.

1. You can, but you can't use it for games. Just movies, music and other stuff.

2. Does it support the NTFS format? I certainly hope so. Fat32 sucks (PS3 does not support NTFS)

If the 3DS is any indicator, you can use it for anything and everything, from games to demos to pics, to movies. It's just win-win.

Yes, yes. So you don't know about the NTFS vs. Fat thing? Because if it doesn't support NTFS, getting HD movies on there might become a problem.

What about my post makes you think I don't know about the NTFS vs Fat thing? I crossed the oceans of time before you were born XD

The 3DS SD card supports NTFS, not FAT, and so can be read by my 3DS and by my  computer all at the same time. I can use it for games on my 3DS and for files on my computer, kinda diff from the description you gave me for the PS3.
