Price point is decent, but not so competitive it drives Microsoft and Sony to do anything. It is also a price point that says it is the superior system. Question is whether or not consumers will feel a pull to get one over the holidays. The economy is in different situation from when the current generation hit. |
I agree, MS/Sony could hold their prices (and might) but they havn't dropped prices in over a year so they (MS anyway) have the flexibility to do so if they want to cut into WiiU's sales. However, there's not a lot of excitment (outside of forums like this) for WiiU so they may not feel the need. Which is why it's interested to see if they do or not. How much of a threat - if any - do they precieve WiiU to be?
I don't think WiiU has the same pull that Wii did to get people to make an immediate purchase. It does have an outstanding launch line-up but then 360/PS3 have many of the same games... Still, great line up of exclusives for those who make the purchase.
I think the 'fad' aspect will go to cheap Android gaming tablets/kids tablets this holiday, and that'll be WiiU's main competition. However, only time will tell.
