is pointer control too difficult for you guys because, you know....you actually have to aim and you are bad at it?

I think it's because they don't rest their arm so that their wrist movement is steadied.  If you just hold your arm straight out, then yeah, your accuracy will be thrown off by your arm wobbling.  But just like people trained in firearms who steady a gun with their other hand, if you simply rest your arm on an armrest, pillow, etc, and steady your wrist movement, not only is the accuracy of aiming improved over dual analogue, but the experience you get with movement around the environment is unbelievably liberating and very satisfying.  It improves the experience ten-fold for me personally.  Nothin' like it.

Yeah, me too. I think every person realizes that after 5 minutes playing IR pointer style. You can just flick your wrist to cover all the screen.

I dont like FPS so not a big issue for me. The only game I can think of is a new metroid prime... That would be awesome, but I am pretty sure Nintendo will make it at least compatible.

Now, talking about wiimotes, no way I am going back to a regular controller, regardless of the awesome menus, shortcuts, etc, that they could add with an additional screen for the next zelda game, just no.

I can play with dual analogue when the game is really awesome otherwise, like with Bioshock. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't craving pointer controls all the way through that game, superb as it was.

Oh, you took the words right out of my mouth.  Obviously I'd settle for dual analogue for a game that amazing, but the chance to play Infinite with exquisite pointer controls?  No choice at all for me.

You do have a chance, its called PS3 and Move at least thats how ill be playing it.

FPS on the Wii-U will be a major draw for me with pointer controls. That was the sole reason why I bought Move and Killzone 3. I'm so much better with pointer controls than standard duel sticks. If I find out that most FPS games aren't going to support pointer controls, then I'll be REALLY disappointed. Still, I can't imagine most 3rd-party FPS games that don't take exlusive advantage of the tablet won't have that option.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

i'm also in the motion controls boat. Like it was said earlier, if a game is great i'll definately use the manditory dual analog sticks. But, the biggest problem for me is that ive always been really uncomfortable with the right analog stick, and that's a problem if you trying to get into the multiplayer where everyone more comfortable is owning you. I loved that conduit 2 supported classic controller pro AND motion controls. Unfortunately, without a wiimote update (talking about button placement), the wii shooters will never be able to hold a candle to what the ps move is capable of. It would be cool if they had some wii-u shooters where you could use the wiimote+/nunchuck AND had a stand for the wii-u gamepad so that you could look at say ... the motion sensor in aliens.

I totally forgot about this, and it may be a compromising solution for some people on this thread. Check out half way down the page. http://www.wiitalk.co.uk/features/1831/the-wii-u-thoughts-and-expectations/

Mouse Keyboard >>>>>>> Dual Analogue >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> IR Pointer

I hate using the IR Pointer to control an FPS. You'd think it would work like a mouse, but it doesn't. It's unwieldy and most of the games that use it do that thing where the pointer moves around the screen instead of staying int he center and moving the camera.

Dual analog always was and always will be a make do control scheme for fps on consoles. After playing with IR controls I will NEVER play a fps with dual analog again ,not even an HD metroid game I hate terrible controls.
Its a shame I don't think much developers will give that option though

pointer control is kind of fun in a single player fps that is slow paced and set to easy difficulty mode. otherwise pointer controls are just too inaccurate, clumsy, and tiring to be dealt with. i'll stick to dual analog for anything online or fast paced.

Do you make these things up ?

im sure you can adjust the bounding box or whatever to do just that.

I wouldnt be surprised if you dont see alot of support for IR with Wii U, devs would have to make a U pad control option, dual analog and IR pointer. Lot of options but alot of work.
