does he mean 1080p and 60fps for 2d (as example arcade games) or also for big 3d games? if he means for big 3d games it would be great news.

I dont think he specifies... He just says the great amount of Memory is great for 2D games... Then in a different Sentence says the WIi U can do full HD 60FPS

"...he only has a 2D experience with it so far."

He's talking about the console's capabilities within the context of his own experiences.  Wii U is capable of these technical acheivements with 2D games.  But there is nothing in this intereview that would indicate that it's able to do the same with a AAA 3D game.  This thread isn't going to do anything but take certain sentences out of context and uneccesarily get people's expectations up.  If Wii U was capable of 1080p 60fps on all games, then why would Nintendo cap all its 1st party games at 720p?  Use your heads, people.

Shit, imagining BGE2 on the Wii U with the Gamepad as the camera almost made me tear up. I love the first game so much, that I own 4 versions. For the possibility alone that BGE2 might come to the Wii U the fact that Ancel likes the console is really good news for me.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Pikmin 3 started as a Wii game so it's kind of understandable the game won't be 1080p.

NSMB U doesn't have any excuses, they could very easily make the game 1080p but Nintendo obviously wants to sell the game along with the launch of console so that means there is no time to make it high resolution, and NintendoLand is probably the same.

Those are the only first party games I can think of, hopefully later next year we'll see 1080p games running at 60fps (if the Wii U is truly capable of doing so)

Nintendo and PC gamer

None of the current Wii U games were developed on final hardware. Anyone remember what the launch 360 games looked like? I do.

People always forget this.

They compare pe-launch Wii U games to games made 6/7 years into the PS3 and 360's lifespans, which isn't a fair comparison at all.

In the interview, he also said...
-The player with the touch screen can modify the environment in a good and a bad way.
-Dig in the ground with your finger on the touchscreen like Dig Dug.
-Rayman Origins was supposed to be theyr only game, but when they saw the wii u, they realised that theyr is still alot of things they could do. They are making Legend by selfishness, only for theyr personal fun, they are having alot of fun working on the game.
-By taking the Ps1 and Ps3 as example, he says that he remembers when Sony approached them telling all the possibilities they could do with the new hardware. But today, all the things talked about by the hardware makers are not necessary possible because of high cost.
-He talked about games like Uncharted (saying its one of the reference graphicaly) and he says that those games look great but you feel like you are following a scenario. He says they are rly scripted and that he wants for BGE2 the players to feel like he is creasting his own scenario.
-The interviewer asked him if the game could have some kind of lvl creator like LBP, while not rly answering the question, he said it is something they are making alot of research on.

I like it when people speak well of Nintendo, but whether it does 2D or 3D and 60 fps, I'm getting one regardless.

If anything comparing a new console to something that is 6-7 years old and will soon be last gen is what doesn't seem fair.  Imagine if someone compared PS3 launch titles to the first Xbox, people woud cry foul.

Nintendo get a magic free pass for some reason?

They don't get a magic anything. They're not going the graphics-intensive route, and I'm fine with that. The Wii didn't go that way either but it delivered more than the graphially superior PS3/360 for me. Gameplay is what matters most.

All I'm saying is that an unfinished launch title is obviously not going to show as much of a system's power as a similar game made 6-7 years after a console's launch.

Michael Ancel needs to stop wasting time talking about the Wii U and get busy finding out if it can in fact handle his vision of Beyond Good and Evil 2.

No... he needs to make sure Rayman Legends ships as the greatest 2D platformer to date... and the best example of asychronous gameplay support that isn't a damn mini-game like everything shown by Nintendo so far.

Also, there is going to be full NFC support which they are not allowed to talk about (waiting for September 13th) but the first Rayman Legends Wii U trailer that leaked had already spotlighted some of that.

So they've been working on the machine for months and he's still unsure about BGE2 for it? Sounds typical of the development community.

It sounds like he's referring to 1080p for 2D games, which is fine, but I believe the PS3/360 also ran Rayman Origins in 1080p, no?
