Forums - Nintendo - What will Wii end up selling this holiday/2012 total?

Given the impending WiiU launch and lack of new game releases, clearly the Wii is on its way out, sales-wise. Still, I'm curious about how well it will do this holiday season. I suspect Wii will get a price cut around the launch of the WiiU which will help drive sales for one more holiday season. But what do you think? How will it sell this holiday and what will it end up selling for the calendar year?

Bah!

Around the Network

1. Wii is not only out sales-wise, but also games-wise.
2. I doubt about a price drop within Wii U launch. Maybe next year around March-May 2013.
3. My prediction for sales this holiday for Wii is 4.5M Q4 (Oct-Dec).

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

To think most on this site predicted WII to top 200 M.. and end up being the most successful video game system ever..

Now it'll be lucky to top 110M when it's all set and done..

mM

I'm not even sure it'll make it to 110M. It's only at 96.5 now. I don't see it selling more than 7 million total this year which would put it at just about 100M. I think 110M is a stretch at this point.

Bah!

At this point I'm not even confident it'll make it to 100 million lifetime, sadly.
I hope it does. It's had a long journey, and after being all but abandoned in its final year, it deserves to have one last triumph so it can die with dignity.

I predict that it'll pass 100M by the year's end (somewhere between 6-7M this sold in 2012), and will probably claw its way to 105M lifetime (assuming that it stays on shelves well into 2014). That would at least be enough to pass the PlayStation.

I dunno, around 4mil this holiday? Nintendo systems always get the biggest boosts, and a pricecut to $99 or £70 would do wonders for less well-off parents, and in emerging markets alike.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

half what it did last holiday season

I think the Wii will drop to $99, especially if Sony and Microsoft cut price due to the Wii U launch price. If that happens I think it'll have a solid holiday this year.

Bah!
