just out of interest do you play this game with mouse and key board or with a controller, infact do people play all games on PC with m & k or are there some games people like to play with a controller plugged in,just curious

I heard the K&M controls are absolutely terrible in the game and there are problems with remapping certain actions. SO I just play it with my 360 controler, it's what the game was designed for anyway.

I prefer K&M for most games tho as it's what I have grown up with. Tho I guess this makes the last three games I have played that I resorted to pad for as the K&M controls in Darksiders 2 and Sleeping Dogs (I think the last patch changed a bunch of stuff but by that point I was already used to the pad in the game) were pretty bad.

Well, I just ordered it. K&M controls sucking doesn't sound too good, but I can always use my Wii CCPro or my old and loyal PS2 controller.

I have to say the the guy that made the resolution fix is a bloody legend for all the work he has put into improving this game. He just keeps on adding cool stuff, I have no regrets tossing a few bones his way.

His latest update

This release fixes the following bugs:

  • fixed dynamic shadows being cut off in some areas
  • fixed some icons still not correctly hidden by Hud toggle

And adds these features:

  • HUD scaling
  • HUD opacity settings (per component)
  • Minimalistic HUD mode (removes the weapons and item/spell name display)

All the HUD options can be set in the ini and HUD manipulation can be toggled at runtime. Note that there are still some issues with the HUD manipulation, including damage number placement being incorrect and subtitle rendering not being handled. Also, poison and bleeding build-up is not displayed correctly, and neither are boss health bars. Additionally, I observed an unusually high performance impact at high resolutions that I don’t really understand yet.

Note that you can define a toggle key to quickly turn HUD modifications on and off in case there are issues.

Here are 2 screenshots showing off the HUD features:

Check out the DarkSoulsMod sub-reddit for a nice archive of texture replacements people have created so far. I especially like the high-res font replacement. My nickname there is DuranteA.

Gotta love the modding scene.

oh, you're one of those people...

There were a couple of people who had the problem but found a fix. If you go on dark souls steam forum and search "GFWL log in" you'll find a couple of thread where people posted solutions :)

Haha, actually I am not. I wrote that post out of frustration after being ganked several times in a row being alone versus three.

Zarx and the rest of you who experienced this marvelous game for the first time, what are your impressions?
