Forums - Gaming - Microsoft could 'delay Xbox 720 launch to spring 2014' - Pachter

Based on the contract revealed between Bungie and Activision it would seem that the order is Wii U > next Xbox > PS4.

Based on the information revealed in that contract, Bungie was to deliver a game in 2013 for both the Xbox 360 and the next Xbox. In 2014 when the DLC is released, a PS3 version would be released. In 2015 the sequel would be released on I believe only the next Xbox and PS4, but it may have also included the Xbox 360, but there would be no PS3 version.

As I suggested before, this would imply that Activision is not planning on the PS4 being available until sometime in 2014 and from what I can assume, late in the year. Otherwise, I'm not sure why they wouldn't have a PS4 version of the Bungie game at the same time or before the PS3 release.

This would also seem to imply that the architecture of the PS3 and the PS4 are not the same, nor similar. If they were, then a PS4 version would seem likely at the same time as a PS3 version.

Being that the PS3 version is delayed until 2014 and there is no Wii U version listed it would seem that Microsoft probably paid for the game to be a timed exclusive; which (really) doesn't say much about when the PS4 will release. In fact, if Microsoft was paying for it to be exclusive for a full year one would assume that Microsoft believed the PS4 would be on the market before the game released.

I have seen similar speculation on My Nintendo News regarding the order - -that it would be Sony and not Microsoft delaying its next console.

So given that this was from Pachter. And given his prices for the WiiU are $50 higher than the range everyone else has been siting (at least), I am inclined to think that Sony will be late to the game rather than Microsoft.  This also would jibe with MS having the oldest console and Sony the most money issues.

No, but I'm pretty sure that he's paid to belittle anything Nintendo.

Hey, if I got paid as well as Pach does, I'd do the same thing, not gonna lie.

Hell, I already belittle Ninty half the time for free anyway!

I rip on all three for free, but don't dare insult the perection that is PC gaming.

As for the topic at hand... since it was Pachter who said this, I'm just going to assume the opposite and say 720 launches by holiday '13 and PS4 gets pushed to '14. We already know it's going to happen... all of the big "next-gen" games currently in development are being done with the PC/720 in mind since once again they will most likely be very similar to one another, and Sony can't afford to manufacture, promote and launch a brand new console in just a year's time at the moment.

Waiting 18 months after the generation began really worked well for the N64, Gamecube and XBox ...

I'm really starting to wonder if Pachter is one of the worlds most successful trolls.

The SNES waited two years to come out, yet it beat the Genesis. The PS2 waited a year to come out, yet it easily crushed the Dreamcast. Launch dates DO have an impact, but if you've got your ducks in a row, so to speak, you can overcome it.

Perfection doesn't come cheap though, that's the one knock on PC gaming.

Sure, give Wii U a non-supply-constrained holiday season to pull ahead. That'll be great.
