RE5 is currently at 8m units sold. Capcom is making a huge effort with RE6, they are going to market the shit out of it, they are dubbing it to more languages apart from Japanese and English (German, French, Spanish, Italian) and they seem to have put a lot of effort on the game itself. In short, they want to make RE into a megapopular franchise WW. Plus the HD console userbase is much bigger now than during the RE5 launch.

I think that, taking into account all these things, RE6 can maje it to 10m units, making it the king Japanese franchise with Gran Turismo and above FF.

Certain thing against this happening: the gen is ending, not such a long time to sell units and to re-release different versions, which helped RE5 reach those 8m units.

I think it will do 25m with all the limited editions when its all said and done;

The king japanese franchise is Pokemon by the way. (Wii Sports was pack-in so I'm not counting)

If you want to rule out portables, pick any Wii best seller made by Nintendo of Japan.

At the topic itself, I've seen Resident Evil 6 demo on X360. It is a cool game, but a terrible resident evil. Don't know to which extent the RE fanbase won't be alienated by how different and apart this game is from the main series, and Capcom was already stretching the line with RE5.

I have played RE Zero, 1, 4 and didn't finish Resident 5, and I couldn't careless about 6 to the point of thinking it was already in stores and people are playing it lol.

I certainly don't hope so. A bastardized Resi doesn't deserve to sell.

Anyway it's not possible.

1)  Software sales are already on their way down now that we are late in the gen, despite the total install base of PS360 being so large.

2) Plus Resi 6 won't have time to get the "legs" sales that Resi 5 and Resi 5 Gold benefited from.

3) And look at the hype. It's much less than for Resi 5. And pre-order numbers are dismal and no one on VGC even seems to be that excited for the game.

But I think 7 million is possible.

Maybe? It's got somethings going for it, main titles in the RE franchise definitely sell well, and I'm not sure if it's coming to the Wii U just yet, but I'm guessing that it will and that should definitely be a sales boost. What makes me not so sure though is that people may have been tired out by the RE franchise for multiple reasons. Too many titles, Raccoon City didn't exactly set the gaming world on fire(it's short toss away from the 2 million mark), and it's gotten criticism over the years for turning more and more into an action game. Will this be the RE6 people want? That's the question.

I don't know if it'll do 10m, but a lot of people I know irl are really excited for its release and I think it'll do well enough at least.
