I will wait until the end of time for Final Fantasy Versus 13.

I hope you've packed snacks.

It's lateness.
FF Versus XIII is Destined for Lateness.

As we all know.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I'm at the point where I don't care anymore.

We know next to nothing about this game anyway, so what's to get hyped about. No one really knows how it plays or if the story is any better than FFXIII.

I didn't really care for the character designs that were shown anyway (same ol' J-POP band characters in a FF game).

No, just no. Half of the FF appeal lies on scenery porn, just like Avatar. FFX wouldn't work if it was settled on anything less than the breathtaking beauty of Spira.

Why do you need more dark, dank, dirty, gloomy, rusty pipes and decayed buildings anyways? You are pretty much talking about a very convincing and unsettling way of describing our world nowadays.

Because This....

Trumps this....

Everyday of the week for me. the bright colored technology thing just doesn't sit well with me. I see high tech as sleek and efficient, sterile even. I love the throne room in XIII in Orphan's Cradle, Midgar is amazing, and love zanarkand. I also hate overy ornated background.

"Don’t be fooled by the dark mood the trailer leads you to, what you’ve seen is merely a representation of what’s to come but I can disclose that the character (Noctis) is not solitary or dark even though the burden he carries is very heavy."

"Since he prefers depicting friendships over love affairs, the former will play an important role in the game's story. The burden resting on the shoulders of the protagonist and his friends might be very heavy, but nonetheless Nomura also aims to realistically show the positive aspect of their friendship, too." (Tetsuya Nomura)

For more comments from Nomura and others: here

They are aiming for realism through believable characters.

as the OP shows, we know plenty. We honestly knew more about how Versus was going to play out than we did of FFXIII before it finally released :/

If you don't like JPOP looking characters than you obviously don't like JRPGs that much, they ALL have them. Nomura does have a way with his japanese pretty boys but its all apples and oranges from there. Noctis is actually rather tame for his designs. Have you SEEN The Bouncers???? lmao

Dont really think it looks very good.

To begin, with reference to the OP, the darkest FF is without a doubt FF12. The reasons being the metaphorical allusion to the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, not to mention the soundtrack.

Main character Noctis... looks the same thing as Squall, Lightning was the same thing as a female version of Squall and then they changed Cloud's personality in Advent Children so he was another Squall persona.

I'm getting very fed up with Squall carbon copies, would rather see more charaismatic, less-emoish main characters. His hairstyle looks awful as well. Looks like Noctis and Stella will be the same thing as Squall and Rinoa. Seems like it will be bland Twlightish romance to me.

Gameplay, of what I've seen the gameplay looks good.

I think it will be similar to FF13, maybe 3 -5 hours of cutscenes, with characters talking incessently or giving monologues incessently, or arguing with each other incessently. Can't really say I'm interested in this title unless Square Enix show more footage that it will not be any of those things.

I see myself as probably one of FFXII's biggest fans.....but lets be honest here. The soundtrack for that game was gawd awful. I could not listen to any of it without fear of being put to sleep. I literally would have to cut it off entirely and put my own tunes on in the background to get through the game, regardless of the fact I loved the battle system and the story. Also, 12 may be dark but not as dark as say....FFVI,VII, or IX. I was referring more towards asthetic in the OP but these are darker in story and over all tone as well. FFXII does have a distinct oppression to it but I never fealt like the characters were losing/sacrificing anything to get the job done. Ashe and Basche both experienced decent losses but they never hit home like...

  • Aerith's Death scene
  • Sephiroth burning down the town
  • Jenova's corpse
  • Blood splattered hallways of Shinra Co.
  • The systematic destruction of every big city in IX
  • Vivi's realization of what he is
  • Eiko living alone in the village of summoners.
  • Yuna ready to sacrifice herself for the greater good, Tidus willing to do the same just for her in X.
I felt something special with each one of these moments that is very hard to put into words. Its like a sinking feeling, like you have lost what they have lost as well, like you fear what they fear, disturbs the soul.
And I would like to add that I think you have Noctis in the wrong light in your head. If he was more cartoony looking I think he wouldn't just automatically be being lumped in as a Squall, despaired Cloud clone. He is not depressed at all, as Nomura has stated. Hes actually a more upbeat personality from his spoken dialogue. He is being crafted to be more "smooth and suave". Think Zidane from IX, a ladies man at heart, just Noctis will be less goofy about it. He does wear a lot of black but that is due to the more uniformed look he has with his teammates. In one of the gameplay videos, it was translated that Noctis starts to get really comfortable with his powers causing Ignis to try and quell his cockiness. It is almost like he knows hes the shit but tries not to rub it in too much. If this is an annoying personality/arch type to you or seems stereotypical than it is what it is.

But Zanarkand is full of odd-designed buildings with waterfalls and even whole floating rivers and lots of lights. It's not very different from the examples you mentioned to dislike. Aren't you sure you just want some sort of chromatic/thematic consistence? That's another issue entirely.
