Which honestly wouldn't have bugged me if they didn't make Final Fantasy XIII-2, which I did enjoy.  I mean everything they did in that game was for what?  Not like they solved anything in the story.  I mean, unless this game leads into Final Fantasy XIII-3, to actually finish up the story, I think I'm going to be dissapointed.

I haven't played the game but wasn't FFXIII-2 story tied up by the DLC?

I'm for one am glad they're making this a stand alone game, otherwise they would just alienate the FF franchise further. If XIII-2 saw a 50% drop in sales, another follow up would probably do the same. I'm loving the new world and direction of the gameplay mechanics. This is what a FF spin should be IMO, a true experiment and not just a sequel forged from left over assets.

Hopefully It will get announced for the system. I don't think they've spoken on it yet

I'm concerned with the amount of development times been given. Square manageged FFXIII-2 in 18months but that game didn't even run as smooth as XIII, it also re-used alot of XIII assets.

How are they going to manage a whole new world, characters and battle system in the same time frame? I for one hope they delay it till 2014 and make sure they do the concept justice. Ideally:
